driving from denver to nashville

Hi. I am driving to Nashville from Denver with my daughter and plan to leave this Saturday afternoon from Denver.

Trying to figure out how far to drive Saturday (starting at 1pm), then Sunday (so I can stop at 5pm for two or three hours to watch the BRONCOs win the Super Bowl! and then arrive to Nashville, ideally on Monday. I would like to be able to hang a little in Nashville before I have to leave Tuesday early afternoon.

Does anyone have a "game plan"? (pun intended). Also, any good restaurants or places to sleep? Kinda hoping the weather cooperates.

You will "lose" an hour en route. I have driven this route a good many times and leaving at 1 will put you just barely into Kansas in 6 hours of a 16 hour drive.
So theoretically you could even be in Nashville to watch the game (by 5, if you push on/start early) which if you have someone there to comiserate with when the Broncs lose to our Panthers, it might be good!! LOL

There are a lot of inexpensive motels along I70 and I have usually just driven until I was ready to stop.
It is an easy drive--I recommend books on tape!!

And for our family, DS from Denver will be in Santa Clara with 3 of his best high school friends from Charlotte!!
Go Panthers!!

Thanks for the reply. I know leaving at 1 isn't great but we are bringing someone to the airport.

We are planning to spend a night in Hays, KS on the first day and then the next day in St Louis so will stop to watch the game there. Then it will be a quick trip into nashville on monday.

SO no favorite restaurants anywhere along the way? great diners? I hate chains.

I would be VERY sure to get on the east side of St. Louis a number of miles for Monday traffic. There are nice "plazas" along 57 and 64 with good motel chains.
You will find that from Hays to StL is a pretty easy drive.

I was going to recommend stopping in Hays. Gella's is the place to eat in Hays. It makes a number of top lists for Kansas at least.

Depending on when you started the next day, you could have lunch in Topeka, Lawrence or KC.

I'm going to try Gella's the next time I drive through Kansas. I don't think I've driven that far down Vine St. before.

I've stopped at Jack Stack BBQ in KC for lunch a couple of times and really like it. I also like Shakespeare's Pizza near the MU campus in Columbia. There can be a line and they're in a temporary location until their new restaurant is finished though.
