Thanks for reporting back, Iguazu, but sorry to read that the weather got in the way of your enjoying Oregon. It's pretty much a crap shoot this time of year. Appears you made the best of it though; I admire that adaptiveness and sense of adventure. Better luck next time!

Iguzau-- sorry about your foggy weather also! I have a thread going about hiking along the coast as a first time visitor. Thought I had read that Sep/Oct were better weather months and the fog wasn't as bad. I guess that's not always the case???

Glad the trip was a success, even with the quick change in plans.

LadyVic--While not right on the water, a really nice hike is Saddle Mountain. Great views! It is about 10 miles inland from Cannon Beach/Seaside, but you can see out over all the water.

September is usually pretty good along the coast, but the weather is of course impossible to predict - sorry you didn't get nice weather for your trip! I saw that last Tuesday would be nice so I headed to the northern coast for the day: Cannon Beach and Astoria. That's what I like about living in Portland: just over an hour to the coast and easy to hop over there spur of the moment.

Welcome to Fodor's Iguazu! Glad you were able to visit the Maritime Museum in Astoria. We've been working with the curator on some exhibits there for the bi-centennial events that will be opening this month. Awesome place and so educaitonal! ***kim***

I am sure it was just a typo but since we are being educated here...
educaitonal is spelled educational
