deb,
thanks again for your help, good suggestion for me to call in regard to Thanksgiving dinners, I'll do that.
We do send Christmas cards, and I always send a family picture with it, I was planning on taking some of us in the Smoky's, but I will also get someone to take a few of us inside Opryland (great idea)! Thanks for thinking!! I'll let ya know how our trip goes when we get back. I am so excited, I have never been to TN and I expect it to be very different from Vegas. Appreciate all you help, deb.

I am leaving tonight to go to Gatlinburg for the weekend. I have to disagree on the trashy and redneck part of it though. There is things to do, but not much worth taking pictures of unless you take a ride through the mountains (if you want pictures of trees and streams). We are going to simply get away from home life and relax. There are several places to eat, but I would suggest eatting before you go there, because it can be expensive. Also buy tickets for any attractions online, you would save a bundle. Also I'm not sure if you will find a place to stay. Most of the cabins and hotels are full for the shopping on Friday. We had to pay a good chunck of change for our 1 bedroom cabin for 3 days.
I would say though to visit Chattanooga. That is where I am traveling from. There is so much to do. Lookout Mtn is a wonderful location. Rock City has the lights up right now. I'm sure Ruby Falls has something going on as well. Also the Aquarium is nice. There is shops downtown and several places to eat. (I like Taco Mac and Sticky fingers myself. I hope you have fun. A fun trip would that would be out of the way though would be to go to Atlanta and see the new Aquarium they just opened..compared to Chattanooga....Chattanooga has 10,000 animals. Chattanooga has the largest fresh water tank in the world. They have also just addeed the salt water to though. In Atlanta there is the new aquarium with 100,000 animals..they have whales!
Chattanooga also has the Indian Walk....Chickamauga Battlefield, (in Ga, but only a 20 minute drive from chattanooga), creative discovery musuem (for the kids), and much more..have fun...

I saw the post and wanted to suggest www.knoxmenus.com. It's a good website with menus, maps, and coupons for most if not all of the restaurants in the Knoxville area.
