Where is Dog's Da Kine Bail Bonds office located? I promised my mom that I would take a picture of it for here while I'm on Oahu next month...

I don't think we have this show in the UK -yet...! sounds interesting...well I guess we will just stick with Magnum PI repeats for now.....80s and Hawaii, what a combination!

I stopped at his office to take a look last year. Its in the seedy part of Honolulu. The office was closed but it looks just like it does on TV!

Well, I wouldn't really call Queen Emma street the "seedy" part of Honolulu. In fact, it's just a regular street not far from downtown.

I saw Dog a couple months ago in the lobby of my office building - he was dressed just like he does on the show (I always wondered if that was his everyday "look" or one just for filming) and is a lot shorter than I thought.

The new season of Dog has started, altho they are still showing many reruns. While on the Big Island in May, we missed a corner to go to Walmart so instead decided to go back to the condo. Turned the corner onto Ali'i Drive (in Kona) at the north end & the traffic was terrible. After 1 block, we realized they were filming for Dog's show right there in front of the ABC store. We got out & my husband found a parking place. We watched as they filmed there, then walked over to the nearby pier & park for more filming, had the opportunity to take many pictures and congratulated Beth on their upcoming wedding as she walked by me. She was very nice and said thank you. She's much smaller in real life, at least all of her but the front top! It was Wednesday when we saw them. I had read that they were to be married on the Big Island. The following Saturday, we drove up the coast and checked out some of the huge resorts. Stopped at the Hilton and they were setting up for a wedding, so we took pictures... just in case. And, as we had guessed, it was for Dog & Beth's wedding that night. We figured that knowing several Hollywood people were coming to the wedding, it wouldn't surprise us that it would be someplace as lavish as the Hilton and we were right. A&E aired the wedding episode on Aug. 8th and in that show, they were hunting right up until time for the rehearsal party, but so far, I have not seen what they were filming in Kona (I know I'd recognize it by what Beth was wearing -- light blue capri pants and a white tank top with a blue flowered shirt over it). We were told that if they didn't catch the guy they were after, it would not ever make air. BTW, Duane Lee is just as gorgeous as on TV, his eyes are the bluest ever, plus he has no tattoos (which I hate). He is almost a perfect "twin" to my nephew, so he is me & my sister's favorite. Dog is as rough looking in real life as he looks on TV, but he has had a hard life. We went to Honolulu the next day and upon arriving, saw the headlines in the paper about one of Dog's two daughters getting killed in a car crash in Alaska the day before the wedding. That was sad, as was watching their reactions to the news, which they showed on the wedding show. Some have questioned his having 12 kids, I think I am 95% sure in saying those 12 kids are from 4 different women, with at least two born to Beth. They have been together 16 years, but never married until now. Aside from his foul language that I try to ignore, what he does is good and he does it in the name of the Lord, I commend him for praying before going out on a hunt. I wish they would control their language, but he has said sometimes the excitement is so overwhelming that they don't even realize what they are saying. He has helped rehab a LOT of people and from what I've seen in Honolulu, there are a LOT more that probably need it.... drugs are an open problem there, as with most big cities, I am sure.
Regardless of the outcome , I will continue to be a Dog the Bounty Hunter fan and next time I'm in Honolulu, I intend to find his office and get a picture of the front, which my sis wanted me to do in May, but I didn't do it, had read on the website they had just moved to a new office, the one in the phone book was the old address and I forgot to take the new one with me.
One more thing... this Tuesday (9/19) A&E is doing an exclusive interview with Dog & the family about their recent arrest.. airs at 10:00 ET, 9:00 Central (which is where I am).

There was an interesting article on Dog the Bounty in today's NYT (registration required)
http://www.nytimes.com/2006/09/18/ar...ion/18dog.html

Meanwhile, my understanding is that the meth epidemic has fueled a fair share of theft in Hawaii. There was a whole series on it in the Honolulu Star-Bulletin a couple of years ago:
http://starbulletin.com/2003/09/07/news/story2.html

It's also covered in the final chapter of a new Hawaii safety guide that my brother just gave to me:

The article referenced by a prior post in yesterday's New York Times indicated that Hawaii is dealing with a major influx of the drug meth.

Prior articles I've read there and elsewhere, indicated that meth addicts are increasingly the cause of spikes in mail fraud and identity theft.

My wife's cousin is an Oahu police officer and I get the sense from him that thefts from rental cars are fairly frequent in his North Shore patrol area.

I just had to chime in on more than one of the topics in this thread. Firstly, agreed as most others...there are drugs and crime in every city so hopefully that doesn't stop people from traveling to a wonderful place like Hawaii. Yes...if you look for it, you will probably notice a seedy looking character here or there, but again..that is common everywhere.

As for Dog, I got into the show because it was set in Hawaii and I'm addicted too. We went to the Dodger game last night and made sure to tape both the series and the special interview about the whole US Marshall arrest over the Luster bounty. JMO...but I hope the whole issue is dropped and he can go back to doing what he does best, helping get the bad guys (even if it's because he doesn't want to lose money over bails). The best part about that show is that you can tell in his heart (all of the family really) that they would rather help these people then send them to jail.

I'll get off my rambling for the day...guess that 1 hour special last night got me hopping!!
