And it isn't entirely within black shiny suits and reflective sunglasses either. LOL!

Not at all, but in Blues Brothers parlez, with a hint of the Sopranos. But then we would have to add the neck jewelry and a goodly show of chest hair as well.

No, but if you have really "big" hair you might be able to ride in the back of one of those convertibles in the Pride Parade.

Even in Springfield, MO, we have a Gay Pride parade...in fact a considerable population of GLBT folks. I myself haven't been in said parades but am past president of a local PFLAG chapter.

Regarding the alternate lifestyle comment, yes sometimes people do use the term inadvisedly. Not the worse desgination in a society where many condemn homosexuality as a wrong and sinful choice. Being gay is a part of one's being from birth or early childhood.

I like what bluestar says about the term lifestyle regarding gender and would associate it more with profession or style of living. But what does the term urban lifestyle mean, for example? Not sure.

Our great City of Eureka Springs, Arkansas has 2 to 3 diversity weekends, with Pride Parade's. You should come and visit. It's great

Believe it or not, Salt Lake City has a large pride festival, two days, first weekend in June, and an elaborate parade! My teenagers love it, and it is one of the most well-attended events in our downtown area.

Also, last weekend in Paris (June 28?), we were "caught" in the Pride parade on Bouleveard St. Michel -- my 70-year old father particularly enjoyed the girls from Folies Bergere...it was great, and universal!

We don't have a pride parade, just a really big Christmas Pageant - still, it has a big queen and lots of fairies!
