Does anyone know on what areas of Oahu ABC's "Lost" is filmed?

To JOR:
What would you prefer? More "reality" shows? Or maybe a Fear Factor gross out fest? Lost may not be exceptionally realistic, but it's still entertaining and heads, shoulders and torso over the other dreck found on most other channels.

Johnwaron, YES. I would prefer more reality shows. They are a very popular and positve change for television which has been stagnant for years. More Airline, Survivor, Growing Up Gotti, The Real World, and The Apprentice. All of these beat Lost hands down. Television might be dead by now if it weren't for some new blood.

Jor we laughed our heads off at eh MAD TV spoof! It was hilarious especially how whiney Shannon was!!! Loved to see Jeff P show up there.
My question has always been. "Did all the fat ugly people die in the crash?" Don't point out Hurley. He doesn't count.

When I was visiting a friend on Oahu in February we went to Indigo for dinner on a Friday night, and there was a fair amount of cast and crew there sucking down martinis on the upper and lower levels. Didn't recognize anyone as I don't really watch TV, but you never know...

Beachgirl - this is too late for you, but might help someone else.
Here's a site with an article that talks about locations of the different episodes.

Thanks Dusty! I just spent a marathon "Lost" weekend watched the DVD of the whole 1st season so I can watch the premiere this week. I have been to Oahu many times and I love it, and seeing the beauty of the scenery is making me anxious for my October trip there. I have been wondering about the locations and now I can put them on my list of places to go. maybe i will catch a glimpse of Jack or Sawyer...mmmm

I know where the beach scenes from last season were filmed...but I don't think they are there anymore.
I happened to be surfing near the set when Sawyer (not sure of his real name) rolled up with one of the crew to take a dip. So lovely. I've also got some pretty good pics from the set...they were filming one of the last few epis, building and setting sail with the boat, while I was there. Pretty neat to see.
Aloha!

There are 10 pages about "Lost" on the site:
www.gohawaii.about.com
I suspect some of the same film sites will be the same as the first season. After all, they are supposed to be on an island.
Several episodes were here:
The actual filming location of the plane wreckage and most of the beach scenes in Lost is Mokule'ia Beach on Oahu's North Shore.
Traveling north from Central Oahu you most likely will be driving on Highway 99, the Kamehameha Highway. As you approach Hale'iwa town you'll want to look for signs for the Farrington Highway (Highway 930). As you drive west on the Farrington Highway, watch for Dillingham Airfield on your left. You'll pass Mokule'ia Beach Park on your right. The beaches that follow are the locations for principal shooting of Lost.
Several other scenes were in Ka'a'awa Valley at Kualoa Ranch. This is near Kualoa Regional Park (Chinaman's Hat).
Several other scenes were at Turtle Bay Resort.
The Hawaii Convention Center was used as Sydney Airport.
The main set is at Diamond Head Film Studio which is near the entrance (tunnel) to Diamond Head.
For anyone interested in other movie locations on Oahu, you can get a free pdf download at:

In the middle of the page, click on:

Also good circle island driving tour, same place:

My parents live in Waianae and I don't think it's filmed out there - bec it's so dry and desert like and the show looks very junglelike and green. Although there are definitely a lot of homeless out on the Waianae Coast. Thanks for all the input. My friend and I love the show and we're headed there over Thanksgiving. We'll go on a mission and report back if we were able to find anything!

I informed my DH that I know where the film locations are so when we go in a couple of weeks we are going on the "lost" tour...all I got was the eye roll so I guess I will have to tell him that I found the location of a topless beach!

You're absolutely right bondjackie, it's not filmed on the Waianae Coast as I had said (misinformation from the Coconut Wireless!). The beach is on the North Shore, the outdoor jungle stuff is mostly Kualoa, and anything at "the caves" is a soundstage.
Also, since it hasn't been mentioned yet, "Iraq" was the old bunkers inside Diamond Head crater.

I happened to drive by Makaha Surfing Beach one night and caught them filming the raft scenes... double-checked by Googling and got this USA Today article to confirm that it was indeed "Lost": http://www.usatoday.com/life/televis...-13-lost_x.htm
