Dodger Stadium to LAX on a sunday

I have a Delta flight leaving terminal 2 at 6PMPT from LAX on Sunday, August 5th. I have tickets to the dodgers astros game that day at 1:30PT. What time do I need to leave Dodger stadium to get to the enterprise rental drop off and check bags and get through security?

LAX is a zoo - I'd want to be at the rental drop off by 3PM at the latest since you have to wait for the next shuttle. It will take 45 mins to maybe an hour Chavez Ravine to LAX - not counting the possible long walk to your car. (and if there is a wreck all bets are off). So I don't think you can actually go to the game - or no more than the first inning.

How long does it take to drop off and shuttle to the terminal?

Delta was recommending arriving at LAX 2 hours ahead of a domestic flight I had last month, because of the new TSA procedures. However I didn't find it really bad at T2. The bigger issue is traffic. I always like to leave at least 2 hours before I need to be there. Because you need to walk to your car, I'd add in that time. I have not used the car rentals at LAX in a long time. If you want to do some math, I'd call the dropoff office and ask what they recommend if you want to be at T2 curbside by 4-4:15 pm.

Traffic in LA is a zoo, and on a Sunday summer afternoon there will be major congestion in and around LAX. The car rental agencies are off site, and yes, you should call and see if anyone can give you an estimate for the time needed to get from car rental to your terminal on a shuttle. And yes, just walking to and from your car at Dodger stadium will take some time; it is a very big parking lot and unless you have reserved parking close in, add some more time. I hate to be negative but you are either going to see very little of this game or risk missing your flight.

I agree that you should forget the game... I'd be too worried to enjoy it!

PS on a weekend afternoon in summer, traffic can be as bad or worse than a morning commute!

Depends on how many others are dropping cars and how many shuttles are running. I've had shuttles wait for me . . . and other times I've had to wait 15+ minutes for a shuttle bus to arrive.

No matter how you look at it - going to an afternoon game, needing to be at Enterprise by 3:30 at the latest, You'll be able to hear the National Anthem, and about two innings - two innings if both pitchers are rolling...

I think it's a question of how much you want to go to the game. It would be a spendy way to go but you could turn your car in a day early and take Uber to game and the airport. Even still, you wouldn't see the whole game. That gets you right to Departures. I don't know how close an Uber can pick you up at the stadium.

Then again, probably cheaper to change your flight.

Yah, can't even imagine what Uber would cost from the Stadium on a game day. Maybe making a taxi reservation would be safer if you could be sure that you could find them. The Yellow Taxis in LA have an app now although I would still be nervous. Not sure how far you would need to walk to the pickup point, depending on your seat.

>>If you do use Uber or Lyft, etc., Dodger Stadium has a designated pick-up area

The bigger problem with the Lyft/Uber idea is.... what to do with the luggage!?

oxfordms, I agree with the others about timing, traffic, etc., but if you really want to go (and you've already bought tickets), then arrive EARLY. Hopefully, you'll be able to park fairly close to the gates (try to park in relation to where your seats are). You might be able to see batting practice (not always scheduled before day games), wander around the stadium a little (there's a memorabilia museum), maybe take a pregame tour, IOW make the most of your brief time...

No indication on the website link that I posted that taxis are restricted for pickups, only Lyft/Uber.

But again, there's the luggage issue.

DH, ever the optimist, said to leave by 2:30. He makes me laugh. Because he forgets that he grew up in the shadow of Dodger Stadium, knows the parking lots, the exits, and more than one way from there to LAX. And yes, Uber/Lyft/taxi does not address the luggage question. We have now probably scared off the OP.

"We have now probably scared off the OP. "

We can only hope. Hopefully they can change their plan if it's that important....

Luggage..nothing bigger than a small backpack (14x14). There's always the luggage storage service at LAX if they want to go the route of returning the car the prior day and using a taxi to the airport.

I think we are just going to arrive early and leave the stadium no later than 2:15. I have a parking pass close to our seats

And assume you have boarding passes printed. I didn't use it but I think I saw curbside checkin for luggage in front of T2 and/or T3.
