Do you drink the complimentary champagne?

Do you drink the champagne that the hotel sends to your room as a welcome gift. Last year we received a bottle of Anderson champagne from the hotel. We took one sip and it was so bitter it made my hair curl. Then we paid big $$$ for the Thanksgiving champagne brunch and thought they would at least serve something much more upscale. Well it was the same gut rot. We priced this when we arrived home and from what I remember it was something like $10.00 per bottle. I think they made this stuff to give you a hangover.

I know what YUK means. I was so mad. One time I stayed at a hotel that tried to pass off complimentary caviar as Buluga and I could just tell it wasn't.

What a dilemma.

I'm still waiting for a welcome gift of champagne to be sent to my room. If this event ever occurs (this is highly doubtful) I won't know whether to drink it or not!

I think this falls into the same category as the thread on what to do with free hotel amenities like soap, etc. You should bring it home to MIL. (Don't advise donating it to Ronald McDonald House.)

God no! We never drink that God awful stuff they send up to our suite, however we do so love the gift basket with fresh fruit and chocolate. Now if they would only send up a bottle of Salon we would be very happy campers. Twice we have received complimentary passes for Hawaiian lomi lomi massages. If they want to dole out the best of their comps to us who are we to say no. They have a budget for these things and need to give them to someone so who better than me!

I can no longer drink champagne because I get a case of the giggles as it reminds me of the Christopher Walken character "The Continental" on SNL when he offers his unseen female guest some "chom pag nya". That skit is a riot!

What's wrong with a bottle of $10 champagne? I guess my pallet isn't very refined. I guess that's a plus!

I bet most of these posters could not tell between $5 bottle of the sparkly or a bottle of Dom P. It's all an online front....a bunch of Wal Mart customers I tell ya.

too funny, judy - altho Costco does have small CA champagne spread - maybe the Dom too. Right next to the tires, behind the lady cooking the chinese dumplings.
