Do Not Stay At Helmsley Park Lane NY

My recent stay to this hotel is the worst experience of any of business or leisure travel journeys. Besides the room being in disrepair and filthy. (even my 6year old commented on the dirty bathroom) The couple in the room next to mine (who were strangers) had a key that also opened my room. Security at the hotel did not seem concerned when this was reported. The housekeeping staff stole my 6 year old son's stuffed animal and his recently purchased Lion King towel commemorating his trip to the Broadway Play. This was to be a special trip for my son and I. It was ruined by this hotel and it's significant lack of customer care. My letters to both the GM of the hotel and to the President of Leading Hotels of the World have gone unanswered. The hotel has made no attempt to replace the stolen items. Although I enjoy staying at the Lowell, I will never stay at another member hotel of the Leading Hotels unless they make ammends.

What is going on tonight? An epidemic of folks registering just to post one thread slamming a hotel -- one other on here and one over on the Europe board.

Same MO: "Worst place - Don't stay there - my letter's to the manager have brought no satisfaction - yada/yada".

Now this MAY have happened - but I find it weird that this person has never ever been on fodors before but found us in order to post about this dreadful vacation . . . . .

I was posting the same time as indytravel

- Fodors DID say they were trying to attract "new" members - well it seems to be working
