DISNEYWORLD IN JULY,ANY TIPS?
I'm going to WDW in July and have heard that it's not a good idea. Is there anyone that has gone in the summer? I will be staying at the Dixie Landings Resort and I have heard mixed reviews about this resort. If you have a experience that would be beneficial to my trip please reply.I am traveling with my 6 year old and need a mother's point of view.

Okay here is my suggestion. We have gone a two different
time periods: April with the kids and Sept on our honeymoon.
When we went in April with the kids we had excellent weather and
the temps were in low 80's we had one day in the nineties and all my kids
(6 and 10 at the time) did was whine and complain about how hot they were that day.
I would not recommend July you will FRY plus the humidity down there makes it worse.
As for crowds I would think it would be packed since kids are on summer vacation.
Sept was ok cloudy mostly and it rained abit but was ok.
I think March or early April is probably best. I have had friends that went in November
and said it was ok and the line were shorter.
Hope you have fun. We stayed at the Polynesian they have a great Neverland club so if you wanted to go out one nite or
so without your child they take care of them provide a dinner show, animals and character visits. The tram is located right
there as well so you can get both the Magic Kingdom tram or the Epcot one very fast and with hardly any wait.

DON'T DO IT! We have gone to Disneyworld 7 times over the years with our kids ranging in ages from 2 to 13 years old. From a comfort point of view, a Disneyworld trip in July will mean endless hours in lines in blistering heat. Lines for everything - rides, exhibits, food, drink, transportation. Truly - Disneyworld in July and August would be just awful. As a matter of fact, going to to WDW at any holiday period or holiday weekend is unwise. From an expense point of view, you're wasting all that money standing in lines and being miserable.
My Advice: Do what we did. Take the kids out of school for a few days or a week - they miss school when they've got a cold of flu don't they? There are times when you have almost exclusive use of the place. Our favourite times to go are between Thanksgiving and x-mas. You may give up a couple of late night fireworks displays or night parades - but it's a small price to pay for a truly enjoyable time. Staying on site is great. We've been on and off site over the years. You'll enjoy Dixie Landings or Caribbean Beach. The most important tip I've ever given anyone is to get a copy of the UNOFFICIAL Guide to Disneyworld and read it cover to cover. It will make a huge differnce in your trip. As well, as soon as possible, make a reservation for the Hoop de Doo dinner show. We've seen it over and over during the years and the kids just love it. Just remember to set out for the show a good 45 minutes before show time. Any other questions, please ask.

The Dixie Landings Resort is absolutly fabulous! The food is really great, rooms are a great size and clean, and transportation to parks is great! I've stayed there twice. You say you're going in July? Bring lots of hats and light colored clothing. Also, ponchos/umbrellas will be quite useful. Have a good time!

it most certainly will be hot and this time of year there is almost a daily thunderstorm ,however, if this is the only time your family can do this trip, then go for it. you will just have to plan fairly carefully. Dixie Landings is a very popular resort because of it's reasonable rates. Port Orleans is the same level but quieter. with kids I would plan returning to the room mid afternoon until the storm time was over then returning in the evening when cooler. One of the guidebooks is essential and take advantage of any early admissions or breaks you can get by staying on site. I personally wouldn't get too worked up over the crowds..this is what disney is all about...hats, sunscreen, waterbottles that hand around everyone's neck (hydration is important)and sunglasses should keep everyone ok.

Where are you from? Are you used to very hot weather? Because it WILL BE HOT!!!
I went to WDW in April, and I remember it was overwhelmingly hot even then, but that could be due to the fact that I am from northern Vermont.
If you already have your plans all set, just be sure to bring a ton of sunscreen and to know the location of the hotel pool!
Hope you have a good time with your child.

I have ventured to DisneyWorld 8 times, and to DisneyLand once. I would not reccomend going in July, June or later in the fall would more suited to your needs of entertainment. I would reccommend you stay at the Grnad Floridian Beach Resort , or any of the Disney Resorts for that matter. Be sure to do Alien Encounter, and Space Mountain in Tommorrow Land.......

Hope you have a 6 year old that likes to stand in long lines and has the patience for them. Good Luck! You must have the patience of a saint. My father enjoyed his visit at the Dixie Landings.. Said it was quite cute with a Bayou type atmosphere. Enjoy!
Try not to cover too much in one day.

While July is not the best time to come in terms of weather, I do have some tips for enduring the overbearing heat.
Utilize the water parks. WDW has 3 water parks, River Country, Typhoon Lagoon, and Blizzard Beach (the newest). For families, I recommend Blizzard Beach. It has the biggest kids area and more kid-sized water attractions.
Being from Florida, I can attest that you can not only get sunburned but also become dehydrated by being out in the sun. Use a heavy sunblock (spf 15 or higher). Bring bottled water. It will cost you $2 or more in the parks. Use spritzer bottles (Like what you would use on your plants). It feels real good on your face and arms while standing in line. Hats are also a good idea.
As far as Dixie goes, it's great! The rooms are of good size. If you want an unusual look to your room, ask for Alligator Bayou. It is the rustic counterpart to Magnolia Plantation. Make sure you have at least one meal at Boatwright's. I consider it the most underrated restaurant on property.
Hope this helps. If you have anymore questions, you know where to find me.

Our family went to Disneyworld in Late July. It was very hot but, we are from Las Vegas 110 weather. So it really depends on where you are from. We coped with it. We went to all the parks when they opened and hit all the major attractions first. The Unofficial guide to walt disney world was great worth the money. It was like knew what Disney World looked like before I even got there I studied it. My family looked at me for advice on places to eat and ride, I had my notes with me and they helped. Dress in light clothing. Go to the indoor attractions when it gets hot and in the middle of the day when lines get long go back to the room for a nap, lunch and a swim in the pool. The parks are open late, go then. Bring sunscreen and just keep cool. You will have fun no matter when you go it's Disney World The Second Happiest Place on Earth after Disneyland of course. Have fun!
