Disneyworld hotel?? Need Help

There are so many and expensive. Can you please advise what is the most economical and convenient? All-Star Movies Resort? Also any web site that would give a hotel listing on a map so we can orient ourselves. Any other info is greatly appreciated.
Many thanks from Canada.

Hi Shultzy,

These web sties are often recommended here as the best. I found the last one very useful in planning a trip a few years back:

www.mousesavers.com
www.disboards.com
www.wdwig.com

The All Star Movies (and I think there's Sports and Music too) are the most economical on site accommodations. Lots of folks economize by staying off site as well. Have you done a search here?

Stay offsite! The short shuttle ride to the park is more convenient than the LONG wait or walk from the on-site resorts.

Sheraton Lakeside is terrific, and Econo Lodge maingate is decent. Check out rates on hotelkingdom.com and choose a 3 star or better.

But the off site hotels shuttles run infrequently or inconveniently. There are always trade offs. Disney is about to open Pop Century - the new value resorts. You are sure to find a bargain now that Disney has many more rooms to sell.

Another vote for staying onsite. I got the All Star Movies last summer for $49 per night using a discount code I found on Mousesavers.com.

We took our 15 & 5 year old boys a year ago and stayed at the Caribbean Beach Resort. It was nice, clean, roomy, but $$$$$. We ended up renting a car anyhow because we don't like to wait for shuttle buses, plus at the end of the night, the bus lines can be long & crowded, especially after Fantasia lets out. If I had it to do all over again, I'd stay just outside of Disney with my rental car. Also, a tip that I've never regretted is to get to the parks early, and immediately go to the back of the park and work your way forward. We've gotten on many rides with 0 wait.

You'll have a great time in Disney! If you have time, I'd head to Universal for a day or two, especially if your kids are a little older (over 12). My 15 year old liked it much better than most of the Disney parks. He said MGM was his second favorite after Universal.
