Disneyland to Universal?

I keep reading about how bad traffic is for this trip. How would it be on a Sunday morning. If we left Disneyland around 8 a.m. would we have a problem making to Universal by 9 a.m. opening. How would the return trip be in early evening on a Sunday say 7 or 8.
Thanks

If you allowed only an hour, you'd be cutting it close. 7:30 would be safer if you want to be there by 9, because although traffic should be light, you never know what will be going on. Evening traffic will be heavier, but don't worry about it much, around here we don't think twice about making these drives. I always like to check traffic on the radio - use AM 980 and 1070, both news stations with traffic reports every 5-10 mins.

On Sunday morning you should be able to make it from Disneyland to Universal in an hour unless there is a major traffic accident. Traffic should be light. I do agree with arewethereyet that leaving a little earlier would be better. Parking and buying tickets will take some time. There was a recent trip report (can't find it right now) for a family that went to Disney & Universal. They said that the first two hours at Universal were good and then it got very crowded and hot. You don't say, however, when you are going.

As far as driving back early evening. That time of day can be pretty bad. People are returning home from weekend trips and it can be crowded on some of the freeways. I don't know about the 5 south on Sunday evenings. Just be prepared to spend more time getting back to Anaheim. Checking traffic on either AM station is a great idea.

In January, Universal closes at 6:00 pm. I don't think you will have too much traffic heading back around 7 pm. There may be some people coming back from the weekends but since it's not the summer I think traffic should not be too bad.
