I've stayed in a Fort Wilderness cabin as a group of 5 adults and it was great. Even though Ft. Wilderness is the campground, the cabins are actually little trailer homes with "log siding." I think that would be a fabulous place to stay with kids, although I think the cabins are along the same rates as the nicer hotel rooms.

Ft. Wilderness also shows free movies each night on an outdoor screen. One of the Disney info sites posts the movie schedule.

If you stay off-property -- and I've done that plenty of times -- you spend a lot of time driving to and from the parks. And if you rely on hotel shuttles, there's no telling how long your waits will be.
