Dinner in the West Village

We'll be going Marijuana Logues at the the Actors' Playhouse, on 7th Ave. South, just below 4th Street. It is an early show, getting out about 8:15PM.

Sorriso, next door to the theater has been recommended. We have eaten at Cafe Espanol and Pesce Pasta Tratoria, both on Bleeker. Both were good, but we are looking for something new.

Any other suggestions in the area? It will be a Sunday night, Christmas weekend, so we'd like to make reservations.

Sorry, I forgot to give more info. We are looking for something casual, with good food, and good service. Price is not the determining factor - somewhere between Il Mulino and Gray's Papaya A nice neighborhood place like the ones mentioned above.

If I stay up late enough, I can answer all of my own posts

I've just been researching Chez Michallet on Bedford St. It looks like it may be what we are looking for. I've found _mostly_ good reviews on Cityscape, and Zagat gives it a high rating. Any firsthand opinions, feedback, etc. appreciated. How far is it from the theater on 7th Ave. South? Walking or cab distance?

That's it for tonight!

Chez Michallet is a just a walk away. Here's a map I found that might help. Put Bedford St. in the "search for" box if it doesn't come up that way.

Some other options

North Square in the Washington Square Hotel at 103 Waverly (& MacDougal) gets a great review in Zagat and is really close to the theater.

For good Mexican La Palapa Rockola is very close at
359 Sixth Avenue (b/w Washington Place and West 4th Street)
212-243-6870.

For New American
Home
20 Cornelia Street b/w Bleecker & West 4th
212-243-9579.

For something closer to the Gray's Papaya end,
'Ino for great wine by the class & Italian sandwiches
21 Bedford St. b/w Downing & 6th ave
212 9895769

For French/Spanish AOC Bedford (across from 'Ino)
14 Bedford St. b/w Houston and Downing
212-414-4764.

A strong recommendation for La Metarie (189 W. 10th Street @ 4th Street--yes, those streets do cross each other!). It's a small, delightful spot. Early reservations recommended (212-989-0343).
