Do you really mean KC, KANSAS? Do you want to dine near where you are staying? Do you have any preference about type of food? Kansas City has many excellent restaurants in all price ranges.

And yes, what part of town you want to be in would help as well. Kansas City, Kansas is spread over most of a county. The entire KC metro area is spread across several counties and includes several of the largest communites in both Kansas and Missouri, including two communities named Kansas City. KCMO is the largest, but still only a bit over 1/5 of the population.

If you want to dine fairly close to where you're staying, I would recommend Room 39- Mission Farms (about 107th & Mission). Locally owned, creative cuisine with a nice wine list.

OOverland Park...

For steak, J Gilbert's Woodfired Steaks

For BBQ, Jack Stack is very good, but can have a long wait for a table. Brobeck's is less upscale, but is just as good and is lesser known, so you can get in. If you happen to be in far south Overland Park, Jon Russell's.

Cinzetti's Italian Market Restaurant is a buffet with stations where the food is being prepared, like some of the best buffets in Las Vegas. It is a great place for a group.

Bangkok Pavilion and Thai Place have good Thai food.

ABC Cafe is little place with great authentic Chinese food. It stays open until midnight and the people that work at the other Chinese restaurants go there late in the evening.

The Peanut (with locations in both north and south OP) has what many people think are the best Buffalo chicken wings in the metro area. They are also known for their BLTs.

FWIW, Keith's best kansas burgers thread has a link, and at the bottom of it there is another link to OP restaurants.

If you haven't come yet - Jack Stack is a good place to go. Just call and make a reservation. You definitely want to try Kansas City BBQ if you're here. Where are you coming from?
