Dining in Oahu

We are going to Hawaii for our honeymoon and spending one night in Oahu. We are looking for a romantic restaurant for dinner. I have heard that Michel's Restaurant at the Colony Surf is nice. I would really like something on the water/beach and a great view. Any comments on Michel's or other restaurant suggestions? Thanks!!

The Hau Tree Lanai at the New Otani is very quiet and right on the sand, Duke's at the Outrigger Waikiki is nice but more crowded, any of the restaurants at the Halekulani are great (House Without a Key, Orchids, La Mer), if you'll have a car Hoku's at the Kahala Mandarin Oriental is nice, too. In my opinion, La Mer is probably the nicest with the best food, but has a price tag to match.

Orchids at the Halekulani. It is fantastic and very romantic. The hotel is amazing as well.

They have a great mai tai.

Are we talking Waikiki (or somewhere else on Oahu)? I love the Banyon Veranda restaurant at the old Moana Surfrider Sheraton. Great view of the water. Very nice but not over the top pretentious. I had a fabulous birthday celebration dinner there.

I've been to most of the restaurants mentioned over the years, and our favorite, by far, is Orchids. Just fantastic!

The Golden Dragon at the Hilton Hawaiian Village. Very romantic with a wonderful view or Nick's Steakhouse.

I cast the 3rd vote for Orchids at the Halekulani...not just oceanfront, it's got the ultimate classic "picture postcard" view...the full stretch of Waikiki...swaying palm trees...with Diamond Head looming in the background.

All this, plus great food (not cheap, but worth every penny!) and outstanding service.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

Back to the original post....I've dined at Michel's for brunch and dinner and both are nice settings. At dinner, a table closest to the beach can be really nice. However, it depends on the time of year as it can get REALLY warm! I've never had a bad meal at Michel's and the service is great.

I really enjoyed our dinner at Hoku's. Excellent food, service, and ambiance. Looks like the other suggestions are great too...will have to try one of them in October.
