Destin - Destin Pointe, the Crescent

Still trying to decide on accomodations in the Destin area. Does anyone have an opinion about either of these places? Grand Caribbean East & West has been mentioned here. What is the pool like there? We are looking for a place with a nice pool in addition to the beach. Any other suggestions?

Have stayed at Destin Pointe 3 times, in one of the condos. Two very nice pools and beach area. Because it is near the end of Holiday Isle it feels a little less crowded and the condo building is only 6 stories so that is obviously quite a bit smaller than many others in the area.

Ditto to Nancy's reply. We've only stayed at Destin Pointe once and it was in the condo. There are some beautiful homes to rent, too.

We would return to DP in a heartbeat.

Nancym & Sunbabe - is the beach pretty nice at Destin Pointe? Are the condos very far from the beach? Thanks for the info!

Betsy--The beach is beautiful at DP. As Nancy said, the end of Holiday Isle is a perfect setting for a vacation stay. You can go to the beach at the Gulf or go to the beach at the bay. There was a tram running throughout the complex, so you can hitch a ride to the beach and pools. Both pools are very nice. The grounds are beautifully landscaped. Have a great time! ~sunbabe

Nancy & sunbabe - we booked Destin Pointe, thanks for all the help! Any restaurant suggestions? Family oriented, seafood. What was your favorite?

Betsy--we ate at Joe's Crab Shack, which is definitely family oriented. Very casual. Kids enjoyed it.

Had a nice dinner at Louisianna Lagniappe. Sat outside on the deck overlooking the harbor. This restaurant is just down the street from Destin Pointe.

Ate at Hog's Breath and regretted it.

I've heard good things about Back Porch, but didn't eat there.

Hope you have a great trip!

We like the Back Porch, right on the beach, very casual, the kids play around while we wait for the food. Not upscale but fun. Because we have the kitchen and grill and like to cook we tend to eat out at lunch rather than dinner when the kids are tired from the beach. We like Joe's as well. I don't think you will be sorry about a stay at Destin Pointe.
