I am going to Denver in mid November, for a weekend, and have never stayed in the city before. This may be a one time trip, so we want it to be something special. Looking for reccomendations for a nice romantic hotel, in a part of town that is walkable. Any suggestions? Thank you

My husband and I loved the Brown. We traveled quite a bit on the free trolley that runs down the street that is closed to traffic. So LoDo may look like a trek from the Brown but it is actually very accessible.

Definitely stay downtown this trip--I've always thought that downtown Denver is romantic, with its blend of the old and the new. As Birdie said, the Brown Palace is wonderful. Hotel Teatro and Hotel Monaco would also be memorable, romantic stays. Let us know if you need restaurant recs

At the risk of sounding redundant, for what you desire, Tess is right on with her Hotel recs. I also agree that Denver's eclectic atmosphere is very romantic. Walk LoDo and enjoy the variety of food, drink and entertainment. As for where to go, once there you'll know it.

What type of food are you looking for? Some favorites of mine, Vesta Dipping Grill (Lodo), Samba Room (Cuban on Larimar),Jax (seafood), Wazee Super Club (great atmoshere and pizza). So many options!

Reiterating what others have suggested, for 'special' and 'romantic' The Brown Palace (not its annex, though), Hotel Monaco (art deco style, boutique hotel), the Oxford (historical).
For restaurants, we like the Chop House for great mid-priced meat and fish in LoDo. Tamayo on Larimer Square for nouveau Mexican (if there is such a descriptor!). Ted's for bison burgers, also on Larimer. Wynkoop Brewery for value-priced meals, great brews. The Wazee for pizza. Too many choices! Depends on what you're looking for.

Hotel Teatro is also wonderful for fine dining; you might want to check for tickets to a play, symphony, or whatever, you'd be right there!

Oxford Hotel and its art nouveau Cruise Room for a martini.

Happy hour at McCormick's bar, dinner at Vesta Dipping Grill and drinks at the Oxford's Cruise Room. Bliss!

If you like French cusine, then Bistro Vendome but book seating in the garden.
Lodo has a number of good restaurants; it's just a matter of taste and price.

There are also several excellent restaurants just outside of downtown such as Sparrow (my personal favorite) at 410 E. Seventh Ave and Luca d'Italia at 7th and Grant.
