advice for anniversary weekend domestically

My husband and I were planning to go to Europe for our 5th anniversary. However, work constraints have limited our travel time for the exact weekend requiring our travel to be moved to November.

2 related questions/request for advice:

1- good spot for romantic 3-day weekend domestically late september

2 - great destinations in Europe for early November

Thanks so much for any ideas!!

If you want something with a European flair, how about Montreal or Quebec? Weather should be gorgeous at the end of Sept.

Well, how about going to the Smoky mountains and renting a little secluded cabin with a hot tub? I still get chills thinking about the 3 day weekend we spent doing that!! We went through a lot of wine, hiked, didn't see or hear anything around us for miles..it was great. We've traveled a lot- I have a romantic husband who has done all sorts of things to keep the fire burning, LOL. What are your interests? The most romantic spot I've been to lately was in Mendocino CA in the Cove Cottage at Alegria B&B with the waves crashing outside and with a hot tub outside our door... there are all sorts of romantic places in CA wine country- we also had a great weekend at Fetzer's Valley Oak

Then again, we had a great weekend in New York's wine country at the Finger Lakes. We loved Glenora:

I could go on...I'm a really happy gal! Europe? We just got back from Switzerland- that's my favorite European destination. I have a trip report on the Europe board, check it out.
