Denver/Colorado questions
I've these vouchers that I need to use
from AA and I believe going to Denver
is within my price range. (out of ORL)
Now, we like good scenery. Can anyone
recommend any good sights in CO that are
are 1-2 hrs drive from Denver and that
are easily accessible?
Anyone used any tours or buses? I've never
driven through mountains or windy roads or
anything like it, but I love the sights.
We will only have about 2-3 days and are
not big hikers, nor campers, just sightseers.
Thanks for any inputs!

Hi Pati - I agree with the above posters. The CO Springs area is wonderful and has enough to do to keep you busy for the couple of days you have. Pikes Peak is definitely a "must do." The Garden of the Gods is a treat, too. It's a place that you can drive through and stop at different points of interest and get out of the car and explore a bit, take pictures, etc. The Air Force Academy is something to consider, as well as the training center for the Olympics. Enjoy your time in Colorado. The scenery alone is worth the trip!

Lake Dillon is about a two hour drive from Denver. There you can visit the Lake Dillon and take easy walks near the lake. (Best walks are near the campground on the east side). You visit Breckenridge, walk around the town, and maybe take a easy horseback ride. In Silverthorne, there are shopping outlets on both sides of the highway. Basic strip malls in beautiful scenery.
No difficult mountain driving in those areas.
Of course, Rocky Mountain National Park, as the above poster mentioned, is wonderful. You didn't mention when you were coming to Colorado. But, Trail Ridge Road just opened. The road is a little winding, but worth it. Bring warm clothing. You can now drive over it, to Lake Granby and to Winter Park. But, that is more than a two hour drive. Estes Park is a nice little town-touristy, but fun. There is the historic Stanley Hotel-site of "the Shining" movie. In the National Park, visit the Visitor Center to find out about Ranger programs.
A friend of mine took a tour bus that went to Granby and over Trail Ridge Road, and enjoyed it. If you have a car, I think it is just as good to do it yourself.
