Dennis in Cape Cod

We are going to be in Dennis next weekend for a wedding. Does anyone know of a couple of good restaurants in the vicinity? Also, any points of interest?

For restaurants on the Cape, my favorite is Viera..... in West Harwich........ very good food and atmosphere to match....not fussy.

Keltic Kitchen for breakfast. We always go to the Ocean house for dinner. Ask for a window seat. Great view. Sundae School for homemade Icecream.
Last trip someone had just been killed by a shark so no one would go in the water. Still a beautiful beach. It is early for cranberries. We were there one year during the start of harvest.

Keltic Kitchen, while wonderful, is in West Yarmouth which is not near your location. And I love the Ocean House. But it is on the oceanside not the bayside where you are staying if you are on the bayside in Dennis.

The shark attack and fatality occurred at Newcomb Hollow Beach in Wellfleet. That is an ocean beach and 25 miles or so from Dennis.

I second Viera, in an old Friendly’s just over the line from Dennisport in Harwich.

Also second Brewster Fish House but they don’t take reservations and are tiny, so you are almost assured of a wait.

Cape Cod Museum of Natural History in Brewster, with interesting exhibits and trails out to the bay.

At low tide in Dennis on the bay side, but especially in Brewster, you can walk out for miles on the tidal flats.

Home made ice cream at the Ice Cream Smuggler, at intersection of route 6A and 134.

Shark attack was on the ocean side, and Dennis does not have a beach on the ocean. The Dennis beaches are on Cape Cod Bay and Nantucket Sound, where there have been no closures due to shark sightings. The ocean beaches are closed whenever sharks are sighted, but those are in Orleans and farther up the east coast of the Cape.

You can rent bicycles and ride on the Cape Cod Rail Trail.

Grumpys for breakfast. Kate’s in Brewster for fried clams. I second Sesuit for lobster rolls. It’s a must when we visit. Clean Slate for an excellent meal at a chefs table.
