My wife and I had a Sunday brunch at Delmonico's in New Orleans in 4/03. The service was good, atmosphere excellent (a converted manor house) and the food was innovative and delicious. Price was moderately expensive. We will return when we go back. By the way, brunch was off the menu and not buffet.

City search mentions that the dress code is 'jacket preferred'. Is this accurate? Since my husband wont wear a jacket are we better off with another restaurant?

If you are referring to Emerile's Delmonico, I just looked it up in my 2002Zagat Survey for N.O. restaurants and it's not listed in the Jacket Required category of restaurants. However, in 2 years things might have changed. I am listing the restaurants they say require jackets:
Allegro Bistro
Antoine's
Arnaud's
Commander's Palace
Galatoire's
Grill Room
Victor's

I hope this info helps. You might want to stop by a bookstore and look it up in the Zagat book, or some other tourist books. I'm sure your hubby will have a wonderful birthday!

dkb.....If you go to Emeril's website and get into Delmonico New Orleans, the dress code listing is Business Casual. It has been my experience with restaurants listing a dress code, if they require a jacket, that is exactly what will be stated......I hope this helps.

Been there. LOVED IT!! No jacket required, but a collared shirt, NO JEANS! Ladies, wear a skirt or you will feel really out of place. It is an "occasion" place. I want to go back so bad!
