December in Seattle

Hi . I'm going to Seattle next December, for just a few days. Could you guys tell me please about the weather in early December (before the 15th)? Thanks

December is the depth of winter in Seattle. According to weaterbase.com, in that month the average high is 45.7 F., the average low is 35.6 F., and the average rainfall is 5.4 inches. January is a little warmer and a little wetter. It is the time of year here that locals joke about having "cabin fever."

Dark, cold, raining or even snowing. Sunset at 4:15pm on the shortest day of the year. Pretty much our "worst" month, sorry to say.

Rainfall and snowfall are also abundant.

Many winters we have no snow or snow that lands one day and is gone the next. When it really snows, the whole town shuts down. That hasn't happened for a while.

Was Seattle your first choice for a December vacation?
If this is not something work related, choose someplace warmer and drier than Seattle.

Snowfall is not "abundant" in Seattle. Some winters we have a storm or two, many winters none at all.

I love Seattle. I love living here. December... not so much.

If there are vacation days that you "have" to use or lose before the end of the year, choose 3 or 4 places and let us help you choose between them.
The eastern parts of Washington and Oregon get much less precipitation during the year than Seattle or Portland.
The one town that I would visit in Washington in December would be Leavenworth.
