DC Itinerary -- Suggestions

I'm glad obxgirl mentioned the Marine Corps Memorial. It would be easy to visit there on the day you visit Arlington National Cemetery. It is a great memorial and the view is wonderful. The Sunset Parades there are on Tuesdays.

Thank you all. DH is not a Marine. However, my brother's wife's father was a Marine, and one of the few living from Edson's Raiders. My brother's FIL has only recently begun talking about his war experiences, and we want to honor him by visitng the Raiders' Museum, which is located at the Marine Corp Museum near Quantico. Although the Marine Corp Museum is open on Saturdays, we think the smaller Raider Museum may only be open weekedays. We are tring to get confirmation from my SIL. It is difficult to plan this trip because the two things at the top of DH's list are Bureau of Engraving and Printing and the Raiders' Museum, both of which are only open on weekdays. Friday, August 5th is our only weekday in DC.

If you are going to walk to the BEP and take the Metro, when you get to the Smithsonian stop be sure to look for the sign the points you in the direction of the BEP. We missed it and exited the Metro on the other end up to the Mall. It adds about a block and a half to the walk.
