DC hotel advice needed
I'm looking at either the Hilton Embassy Row or the Carlyle Suites. Does anyone know anything about either of these? I know that they are close to Dupont Circle, which I hear is good. Any information would be a great help. Thanks!

I stayed at Hotel Sofitel north of Dupont Circle -- highly recommend this European-style hotel and their steak for dinner. French influence (and patrons), good continental breakfast.
It is across from the Hilton Embassy Row (I believe it is that Hilton) -- nicknamed the "Hinkley Hilton" for obvious Reagan attempt. If it is the Hilton I am thinking, it is mostly a convention-style hotel -- prepare for lots of conventioneers and long walks to your room.
Know nothing about Carlyle Suites. But be prepared if you wish to go to the museums and mall around the Dupont Circle area -- it's about a mile-half to 2 mile walk to the White House.
Best!

I thought I posted this already but it's not here so I will repeat. I said I would choose the Hilton Embassy Row due to location. It is only about a block from the Dupont metro and Carlyle Suites is about 4-5 blocks away. That's not a lot, but it is convenient to be right near it when you are traveling and walking a lot. I've been in that Hilton and it is very nice, more small and boutique-ish than many Hiltons (definitely NOT the Hilton across from Sofitel)--I've only been in restaurant and public areas for meetings, though, not the rooms, but I like it. I don't know the Carlyle, I think I've heard good things about them, but if the rates were close and I had no other compelling reason, I'd choose the Hilton for location--it is also closer to bookshops, ethnic restaurants, about one block to the Phillips Collection, etc.
