DC Area GTG - Drinks on May 14
Here’s your chance to meet local DC area Fodorites as well as others that may be in the area on May 14. As an added incentive u can meet the infamous maitaitom, author of those hysterical & riveting TR such as Maitai's "Central (Don't Call It Eastern) European Excursion"…maybe he’ll even autograph copies??? He'll be visiting DC so u could be a part of his next TR.

I will try to come, but probably will not be able to.
As some of you may know, I have a DC guide license and April & May are the height of tour season. While I do not have something scheduled on May 14th yet, I almost certainly will. Since the tour season is short, you make your money while you can and work like crazy.

Thanks--I'll do that once I figure out how to link it to this post.
As for location we would like something that is accessible to a metro station. Georgetown is not great due to that and also lack of parking for anyone who may choose to drive. Dupont Circle is fine as are other areas, Penn Quarter, U Street etc.

I agree that Georgetown is not convenient due to the lack of a Metro stop.
And, I just saw my first president since Richard Nixon this morning. Obama drove down Pennsylvania Ave towards The Capitol as I was about to cross the street. Maybe we can arrange a sighting for Maitaitom!

How cool, u saw OB. I saw Nixon as a child when he was Veep. And I saw Clinton but that wasn't even in DC, it was in NYC.
I think we need to wait on location when we have an idea of how many.
I emailed monica who has been doing DC GTG's since 1999 and she connected me to the people she has in this area, so we'll see what happens with that.
the other thread on the lounge suggested Arlington, which might be a good location.

Great offer Dukey, but if you remember, the four of us nearly consumed all the wine in Italy on one of our trips, and we would feel guilty depleting your entire liquor supply. Hope you can join us. Looks like a place called Jack's Restaurant and Bar. The info is in the Lounge.
