I would go to the Enchantment Resort for Lunch and then hike either Boynton Canyon or do the vortexs..make sure you are on the list for the guard out front..stunning resort!
Jeep tour IMO is so pricey and not very comfortable and takes a lot of time..but good times can be had.
It's about $75pp plus tip of 20%.
Lunch for two at Enchantment about $60 for two..includes tip, hike to park..$5..Coffee at Starbucks $6
Cowboy Club for drinks and app's $40
Head on back to Scottsdale..

Sounds like a perfect day TTams, almost like one of our days last summer. Loved the cowboy club, where we finally got to have dinner. It had always been full on previous visits. Loved their cactus fries!
Agree the pink jeep tour is somewhat pricey but good for a first timer. Some of our best pics were taken where the auto commercials are made

We did the day trip from Scottsdale in 2006.
Don't try to see or do too much with just one day, just enjoy the flavor of the town. Many nice places to have a great lunch with super views.
On our drive up, we took the scenic drive through Jerome, great drive.
For the best views of the town, ask someone how to get to the local airport and take some pictures from that vantage point.
We also spent a few hours at the shops at Tlaquepaque. Some great craftsy, artsy shops there.
On the way back to Scottsdale, via a different route, we stopped at "the Chapel of the Holy Cross". We got there just as the sun was starting to go down and the views were stunning. A very moving experience.
We did not do the Vortex's, but I wished I had and we plan to do so on our return visit where we will spend more than a day in this lovely town.

There is a great site, loaded with great articles and info on what to do, see, where to eat, where to stay, etc. in Sedona. They even have coupons to print. Someone here told me to go to it and I LOVE IT!

I would make it a point to drive to the Chapel. The views are amazing and make a pink jeep tour and then lunch in town.
If you are adventurous I would take a hike!
Enjoy!
