Day trip itinerary suggestions around south east US (GA, SC, AL, FL)?

Hi all,
Any day trip itinerary suggestions in the south east region for the long weekend? I'm on a business trip in Atlanta, and I'll have Sat~Mon to myself. I have a rental car so I'm thinking of driving around and visiting cool places for the long weekend!

Thanks for any help in advance!

You could go to Montgomery and visit the Maya Lin Civil Rights Memorial at the Southern Poverty Law Center. It is the most moving memorial I have ever seen.

Then go up to Birmingham and eat at Frank Stitt's Highlands Grill for a memorable meal.

www.muscleshoalssoundstudio.org has the best tour and its super cool if you like rock and roll! 3614 Jackson Highway in Shefield, Alabama. I highly recommend!

I would go up to the north GA mountains. One way would be about 2 hours. If you don't mind driving further, go to Asheville. Cool town. Visit the Biltmore Estate. Drive a little bit of the Blue Ridge Parkway from Asheville to Cherokee and then take 441 down through the N GA mtns back to Atlanta. If you like veggies and country cooking, go to lunch at the Dillard House.
