Davis - place to hang out....
Is it reasonable to plan to meet up with an old friend and hang out in Davis for an afternoon? I know that it's a college town, so it seems to me that there will be places to eat, walk around, etc. Ideas and input would be appreciated?

There's a restaurant in Davis named Konditorei...it's an authentic Austrian pastry cafe...they bake delicious breads, pastries, cakes, etc....you can sit and relax with your friend and enjoy the food...it's on 5th Street...there's also the Village Bakery on Second Street which bakes artisan breads, muffins, scones, and pastries...they also make pizza and you can get it by the slice...it's not New York style but the onion and olive is very good.

My daughter goes to school at UC Davis and we just spent a week there getting her packed up for a trip; Davis is like a mid-western farm town, small, quiet with very few "party" joints (they're all in a row down by the train station!) The students there seem very serious compared to say UC Santa Barbara but there are plenty of places to hang out and eat in the small downtown area between the train station and the university. But overall a very low-key place. Parents, a great place for an education!

(This may give you an idea of this guy's POV)
