Dangerous around USC
We are visiting USC and UCLA and have reservations for the Radisson across USC.....it's very cheap but the only thing we found due to Spring Break.
We leave tomorrow.
Is it a dangerous area???? Please advise

You'll be on Sepulveda just north of Exposition Blvd, the location is OK. The "bad" part is to the west of campus and to the south of the Exposition complex, you're on the east side of campus.
You'll be fine.
As mlgb has said, don't wander around at night.
Try and get a room facing the campus and not the freeway.
Dinner downtown is not a bad idea. Just head straight north on Sepulveda.
You'll enjoy UCLA and its neighborhood a lot more.
Good luck on your college hunt!

I stayed at the Radisson when my son was moving into the dorms at USC several years ago. It is very convenient, and parking is on site. I felt comfortable walking across the street to USC or to Exposition Park during the day, but I would not venture beyond that on foot by myself. Take the car to downtown LA or other sites.
Some of the Radisson rooms were turned into dorms, so there is a collegiate feel. Maybe request a "quiet" room.

Little Tokyo area of dowtown is pretty busy at night, and there are lots of good restaurants that stay open for dinner and later. Thursday night is a good night to go downtown since the three art galleries stay open late. We couldn't believe how many people were walking around.

You are probably already traveling there...sorry I missed replying earlier. We are from Michigan and our family stayed at the Raddison when we were checking out USC for our daughter. The best thing is that it is right across the street from campus so you will get a really good feel of what the campus is all about! Our daughter is now finishing up her freshman year and really loved the school year there. You do need to be careful at night off campus and not walk alone. USC does however provide a huge staff for the department of public safty and they do patrol the surrounding area. The last I heard USC actually had less incidences that UCLA as a result. Good luck with the decision. USC has a lot of spirit and very good name! Good Luck.
