There are tons of very good reasonable restaurants in the Knox/Henderson area, or maybe you could check out the Bishop Arts district in Oak Cliff. But give a few more criteria so we can help better.

Cubanitas in the Knox/Henderson area is an enjoyable new Cuban restaurant.
Grimaldi's Pizza in West Village is a good new spot.
If you haven't been to La Duni on Oaklawn, it's absolutely fine.
KLRD restaurant is open at the Stoneleigh Hotel. Save your $$$ before you go, but very fine.

Well, I was raised in Big D. Left one year after I graduated from SMU. Come back often to see family. They live all over. SO most of the time we are either in Plano area or Love Field, Midway area...but we don't mind getting around.
Love Tex Mex, BBQ, the Grape (Greenville), little bars, and nice meals for a nice price...
Dallas always has something "new" going on, the trendy must sees, just wondering what all the buzz is about. I think the Za Za Hotel was the "it" place last time I was in town...

Check out 'Cuba Libre' >>> http://www.cubalibredallas.com
located on Henderson, about 1 block east of Central. Take the Knox/Henderson exit off 75.
I haven't tried this place, however a couple folks from my water aerobics class (Park Cities YMCA) really enjoyed it Screen Door >>> http://screendoordallas.com
It's on Routh/Ross Sts, downtown Dallas. While you're in that neighborhood, have you checked out the Nasher Sculpture Garden? Also, there may be an interesting exhibit at the DMA. The King Tut exhibit is coming to Dallas Museum in October and tickets for that are selling briskly.
As for the bar scene, several of my younger coworkers (20-something) go to the Ghost Bar (at W Hotel) in uptown area. Also, The Social House on McKinney Ave (in West Village).

And one more suggestion .... altho it's not a new restaurant. "Rafa's" on Lovers Ln. It's on the stretch of Lovers across from the Inwood Theatre. I've gone there for quite a few years, a good neighborhood Tex-Mex place.
