Dick, when your car was broken into, did they get into the trunk too? We plan to drive into Hana and stay a couple of nights, thus our belongings will be in the trunk while we stop along the way.

Yes they got into the trunk. They broke into the car and then went through the back seat to the trunk.

If you stop along the way and are near your car ..you should be fine. We stopped at a small parking lot and walked up to a secluded waterfall. I am sure, in hindsight, that the thieves saw us and knew we would be gone a while.
