Hi Lisa,
I was just at this hotel 2 weeks ago on business. It is true that the location is great. I was easily able to walk to Times Square and all through the theater district. The staff was very attentive and the room was pretty good for that area. It looked to me like the hotel is not that old. There is a gym in the basement as well as vending. They had a nice buffet breakfast, too. I thought that the price was very high, but that's Manhatten. It was worth it and I would go back again.

I don't know how rates compare, but relatives stayed recently at the new Hilton Times Square, right on 42d St. Their room was spacious and they had a good view from the 38th floor (the hotel starts on 24th floor and goes to 44th). Very handy location, with the usual amenities.

the Hilton Times Square is on 42d St. near 8th Ave. (and BTW, virtually all the rooms have river/city views), and I believe the Courtyard Marriott is on 40th near 6th Ave. I don't know what the cost of the Hilton was because my relatives were using rewards points. My guess is that both hotels' best prices (i.e., could be less with priceline, quikbook, etc.) would be in the $150-200 range, depending on when you stay. Check the companies' web pages for details.
