We will fly into either FLL or MIA and overnight. Then leave the next morning for the Keys. We will have about a week. Any suggestions for which keys to stop at and stay at, and for how long, on our way to Key West? Thought we would stop somewhere and overnight on our way back from Key West, too. Would appreciate any suggestions. Thanks.

The Keys are over 100 miles long. Focus your question down to a few islands you would be interested in visiting and you might get more responses. You question is way to general. Do a web search and you will find countless sites offering information on the Florida Keys.

Floridakeys.com offers a good amount of information. The above poster is right.....do a little more research and limit your choices. The Keys offer something different for everyone.

Bahia Honda is a must see! It is a state park with the most georgous beach! (the nicer beach is to the left in the park). You will NOT find a better beach in the Keys (they are not known for beaches).

We flew into Miami & drove to Key West- about 5 hours, but it's a beautiful drive! There's plenty to do in Key West...didn't see much (of the other keys) that we wanted to stop for along the way. I'd suggest spending the majority of your time in Key West: water sports, sunset cruises, shopping, historical sites, fun nightlife, etc.

the Keys seem to be a popular topic. I suggest you search under Key and you'll find lots of recommendations posted just in the past few weeks.

I used to live in S. Beach and frequently took my guests to the keys. I also feel FLL or South Beach has better beaches. Along Marathon Key however what beach you find is very white and the water very blue. The beach in FLL and South Beach is wider, the water is still blue and stretches for miles. I would definitely still do the keys if you haven't been yet. I like Marathon and Duck. We would do a leisure drive from S. Beach to Key West stopping here and there to have a drink and visit.

You'll definitely find something to your liking. I love the Dewey House B&B in Key West.

In Islamorada there is a wonderful place to stay called the Moorings and Cafe Morada Bay across the street for great food, atmosphere and a beautiful sunset. Enjoy your trip.

The Dewey House is one of the 4 properties connected to Southernmost Hotel. If you do a search on google.com for Southernmost Hotel you'll get all 4 of their properties.

Fly in to FLL. A little further than Miami but the airprt is very organized with a lot less hectic and they have plenty of rental cars to choose from. A good side trip in Marathon is the Sombrero Beach Lighthouse Marine Sanctuary. The Spirit is a powered Catamaran that takes a 3 hour cruise,30 minutes there and back and 2 hour snorkle time (no,Skipper and Maryanne, but the first mate looked a lot like Gilligan) and the water is incredible.
