Hello!

Just wondering if anyone has any experience booking vacation packages through Costco Travel? Would love any feedback! My fiancee and I are looking at booking our honeymoon to Hawaii through them (simply because it seems so easy!).

Thanks,
Allie

We have used them for rental cars; and we did 2 packages with them - one on Santorini and one on the Big Island. Everything was excellent; highly recommend using Costco.

I was posting the same time as DebitNM but tbe site went down (I'm on a wonky hotel wifi)

>>I have not personally, but I do know that many long time and well traveled Fodorites use them a lot and apparently save fair amount.

All the vacation includes is the hotel and rental car, so it's not saving you real effort. Money, maybe. Do you want to go to Kona? That seems to be the only option and usually people seem to go to Maui or Honolulu.

We are planning on going to Oahu and Kauai and they are offering a package right now. They offer rental cars in their packages or airport transfers. Just seems super easy!

Thanks for the feedback so far!

They often offer extra perks, like Costco card [good for gas; cheapest on the island] they also usually are rooms that are above standard, sometimes free breakfast, it depends. In g\Greece, it included airport transfers.

Certainly, the OP can price the components out separately and see if there are advantages or not to using Costco.

If it's going where you want and you like the hotel reviews, I don't see why not! Have fun!

Allie - Congratulations! I would not hesitate to book your honeymoon through Costco. My husband and I enjoyed a lovely vacation to Nuevo Vallarta, Mexico two years ago which we selected from the various Costco offerings at the time. We did a half & half vacation - the first week in Puerto Vallarta which we arranged ourselves, and the second week in Nuevo, through Costco. The value was tremendous - shuttle to and from the airport, the resort for a full week, all-inclusive food and beverage, and a credit towards a tour of some sort. The resort was ultra-modern, super-comfortable, and spacious - the opposite of our first week, which was decidedly more "real Mexico" - which made for a nice overall two-week vacation. Have a great time!!!

We have used them numerous times and never had a problem. I found we save $ by booking through them . I wouldn't hesitate at all. We have been upgrades, etc too. I love the fact that in the rental car part of our costco travels, there is no extra charge for additional driver. Never been disappointed with them.....

We do numerous car rentals with no problems.

Did a Disneyworld package for son, dil, gdaughter, and ourselves. Far cheaper than anything else we could find and it was an excellent package.

Did a Viking cruise last fall in southern France. Think we saved a $1000 over any other option. This package included an $800 cash card from Costco.

Try to do a Holland Am cruise through Costco this Jan but were surprised that the price through HA and Costco and we got some extra perks from HA.

We check Costco prior to making any final decisions. Customer Service has always been great.

If the price is right, I would do it.

We saved $600 for a group of 4 people by booking our Maui trip via Costco. We booked the exact same trip that we would have without Costco but actually got better flight times (Fairmont Wailea hotel in Maui, 4 NS tix on Alaska air, 1 week car rental).

We’ve used Costco travel for cruise vacations as well as some land trips, although we didn’t book a land package.

One advantage is that you can pay for the trip with your Costco Visa card (if you have one) and you’ll receive some cash back. The Visa card also covers some car & travel insurance, but I’d suggest you look it up and see if it meets your needs.

As others have mentioned, sometimes Costco travel agents will give you a few extra perks/credits for your trip that you may not get (or pay extra for) elsewhere. Shop around and compare. Enjoy your trip.

We were very happy with the Athens-Santorini package we bought last Fall. Great hotels to choose from, airport/ferry transfers, and a local 'concierge'.

I'm not certain of the forum etiquette being such a new user but can I ask a question to those of you who have used it?
How does it work exactly? How do you get your plane tickets or train tickets (if selected)?

My fiancé and I just purchased a Rome and Venice Your Way for our honeymoon in November through CostcoTravel and there was only direction to print off our itinerary as if that could get us all that we needed? Thank you for any insight!

If you feel you don't have the proper paperwork, I'd just call a Costco Travel representative to air your concerns and confirm your plans.

Allie -- How much TIME do you have in Hawaii? You mention staying on two islands. I would only do that if I had a minimum of ten nights in the state. I'd also give Maui more time than Kauai if you plan to get out and see the islands.

Hawaii is more about touring than the sort of 'fly and flop' trips people take to 'destination resorts' outside the US.

Hawaii is also a great, casual place to enjoy 'home from home'by renting a condo for part of your trip -- and your money goes farther.

I've also repeatedly heard that Costco will re-book the package if the price lowers. I've never tried it and I have no idea how this would work with airfare. I didn't pay attention because I knew prices wouldn't lower for Christmas travel but something you might want to look into.

My friend had her son check Costco everyday to see if their price went down but it never did.
