Convoy rolling into New Orleans now...

Just saw on the news that semis, buses, Black Hawks, National Guard, SUV's w/boats, 10 fire trucks from LA are now pouring into NO.

The bad news is that the Bell South building is on fire and that is a major switching station for the SE and a chemical fire...

buckeyemom, I am not familiar with telephone operations.

Will this affect computer lines also? You say NO is a major switching station for the southeast, could you elaborate?

Dag gone news channels! I was watching one of them and they panned over to the Bell South building and said it was a major switching station and it was on fire. I kept switching channels for the last 15 minutes and can't get any more info or on-line. CNN is way behind the curve they are sill yammmering on about no relief when in fact convoys are starting to arrive with national guard...

Convoys of SUVs??? Why are they polluting New Orleans on top of their other problems?

(That's supposed to be humor, folks, based on some other threads here.)

They showed them unloading tons of water and supplies too, and the people cheering and lining up calmly to get it.

I got the humor Patrick, and it is important to have humor when all looks so bleak.

Finally, people are getting some help. Thank goodness. And lining up calmy to receive the supplies will certainly be a positive plus for this horrible situation.

The word "finally" is on everybody's mind. People will drink, eat, maybe even get portable toilets?

So many things we take for granted!

And if I used the edit button I would have typed calmly...hi dear Faina, yes "finally" that is the key word. I don't know how these dear people have survived. I can't even imagine what they have and are going through.
