I live in CT. I am just not familiar with those roads. Have been on Rt 12 once and for not very long. It is a mix of town streets and then backroads which should be good on your motorcycles but I can't really help you with stops or restaurants.

This won't help with the CT part, but when you take the ferry back there is a great seafood place in Port Jeff near where you exit the ferry. I had excellent lobster there.

Just a slight note re ferries. The poster is going over to New London from Orient Point, LI. The Port Jeff. ferry is another thing. And to the poster. I grew up in CT but I, like many others, dont know those roads. Come to think of it you could go to the Dairy Bar at the Univ. of CT. in Storrs for their excellent ice cream.

When you hit New London you can't beat Capt. Scotts for lobster rolls and fried seafood. Google their website for directions. Not far from the ferry dock but a little complicated
