Conference in NYC in December
Will be attending a conference in NYC 2 -6 Dec 2002. Conference will be held in the Association of the Bar of the City of New York 42 W 44th Street (between 5th and 6th Aves). Any recommendations for good restuarants for lunch close to the conference venue? Also, as it is so close to the Christmas holidays, are there pre-Christmas evening events that may be worth checking out in lieu of Broadway shows if I cannot get tickets for the ones I want to see. Grateful for responses.

When you get here, I would pick up a copy of the magazine "Time Out". It is a good events magazine that will help you with what's going on in the city.
The Rockefeller Tree Lighting will most likely take place on Wednesday Dec. 4 (usually the first Wednesday after Thanksgiving). You might want to stay away from that area on that day because it is usually a crowded mess.

Thanks for the tips! I will pick up a Time Out when I arrive - I used it this past summer and found it extremely useful. The Rockerfeller Christmas tree lighting would be great to see! I also plan to do a couple of jazz (the Iridium maybe) and/or comedy clubs - will see how that goes. As far as lunch is concerned, not fussy - I am vegetarian but each fish - so good suggestions for seafood places in the area would be great - would spend up to 30.00 on lunch. No alcohol - at least not at lunch. Thanks so much for your help so far.
