Condo suggestions for Kauai???

Hi-
I am going to be in Kauai from Dec 20-25. I am looking for a nice place to stay, hopefully quiet with an ocean view and kitchen. I would like to keep the price at around 125 per nite.
I am thinking of staying in the Poipu area since the weather is supposed to be best there. Is that right. It looks like the scenery is prettier in the North. What should I do?
Help!!!!!!!
Thanks

Depending on your other needs, you could look into rentals in Kekaha. We spent a wonderful week there, ocean view, kitchen, was not terribly expensive (but this was 10 years ago). Quiet, uncrowded beach, saw whales from the balcony at breakfast. Weather consistently sunny (vs. some other parts of the island). This was in March or April.

But: having a car really helped here, there wasn't much else around. It was more of a house than a condo. Check out http://www.iauak.com/ for details; it seems to also be in your price range.

Enjoy your trip, wherever you stay -- it's a beautiful island all the way around.

aloha jimb3,

I'd look into Kuhio Shores or the Prince Kuhio. The Prince Kuhio is across Lawai Road from the ocean, Kuhio Shores is right on the water.

Gloria's vacation rentals has a good selection of reasonable condos.

You could also try vrbo.com. Scan for Kiahuna Plantation units. You could not get ocean view units there at that price, but you would be a very short walk to the beach. Kiahuna is a great complex.
Here is a url for site for privately owned units.

Good luck. I have a ton of places bookmarked. Let me know and I can e-mail you more choices.

We booked through Suite Paradise (Poipu) last year, got a good price and were very pleased with the unit.

Another Poipu area agency is Garden Island Rentals at http://www.kauairentals.com/

Christmas availability and prices will be another matter entirely !

Normally we stay on the North Shore.
(Pahio Bali Hai Villas)

Next week we are going to be staying at
Poipu. I used www.vrbo.com and got
a condo at Prince Kuhio for the price you are looking for.

I am afraid you will likely have to call a few places to book those days. And you'll pay a high premium. Many condos have minimums over the Christmas week and at this point most all would be booked up. I would start with the larger rental management companies including Grantham, Suite Paradise, Garden Island Rentals, Aston/ResortQuest, etc. Unless there is a last minute cancellation individual owners are typically not going to want to rent those 5 days and have it sit empty the rest of the holiday week. Maybe you'll be able to find a 1 week minimum and pay for the whole week. Good Luck.
