Comfort Inn & Suites, San Bruno, CA

Booked room @ Comfort Inn & Suites Airport East which is East San Bruno Ave because it is literally right there to return rental car & get to airport. Was in a hurry, now wonder is this an ok area? Just me & my husband, we can eat out early & stay in for the night if we should.

It's a perfectly fine area safety wise, if that's your concern. It's a main road near the confluence of two major highways, nestled between the RR tracks and US 101. Mix of commercial and industrial properties in the immediate neighborhood. You won't be walking around anyway, so I'd have no concerns. I would do a little research and see what you can find about the hotel itself. Comfort Inns range from the very low end to the low end of the scale, so don't expect much.

Driving around is just fine. A couple of great fodors posters live right near there and can give you advice on restaurants, etc.

J62 - thanks. I did research the hotel - all reviews good. 2.5 star rating, not expecting too much. I was concerned about safety of general area.

To be honest, I really don't love where the Comfort Suites is located. It's obviously convenient, and I'm sure the hotel is fine inside, and yes, you could drive to a few different nearby chain restaurants (Chili's, BJ's) for dinner, but it's really just very unappealing - I'd call it "zero curb appeal".

It just occurred to me - if you do decide to stay there, there is a really great local Mexican restaurant very close. I love anything with their green tomatillo sauce. The name of it is Don Pico's and it's on El Camino. There's also very good local barbecue place, also on El Camino, called the Rib Shack.
