Columbus Ohio Accommodation question

Looking for hotel accommodation close to Ivy Ridge Place Galena Ohio. Any advice as to the area I should be looking at booking. Is this close to the airport at Columbus?

Thanks

The Polaris exit off I-71 N is 15 minutes from Galena and 15 minutes from the airport. First recommendation is the Hilton Garden Inn. Back up is Wingate. Polaris Mall is at the same exit. Many restaurants.

Both of these hotels seem to be about 25 minutes away by car from Ivy Ridge Place Galena 43021. As my daughter will have to get a cab there and back each day for 4 days, would there be any reasonable hotels that would be closer.

Could she rent a car? This is not an area where cabs are going to be convenient, regardless of how close she is.

She is travelling from New Zealand and does not want to drive in the US. This is a whirlwind trip, arrives Sun night then has four full days of music lessons before flying out to Baltimore for a two days, then back to NZ. She really needs to be as close as possible to where her lessons will be in Ivy Ridge Place Galena. All advice appreciated.

Maybe the music teacher or school can provide some suggestions. This is not the kind of area with (a) hotels and (b) cabs.

Okay looks like long cab rides from hotels near Westerville is possibly the only option. Is there a public transportation system ie buses, or trains?

The hotel which appears to be closest to where my daughter will be having music lessons in Galena is Baymont Inn & Suites located at 909 South State Street in Westerville Ohio.

Does anyone have any information about this hotel. There are only a couple of reviews on Trip Advisor.

Will there be a problem getting a taxi from Port Columbus airport at 10.30pm or so on a Sunday night to the hotel? Is there a taxi service that will be able to take her from the hotel to Ivy Ridge Place Galena in the morning, and return at night?

Thanks for your help

I live quite near this hotel - it is a former "Cross Country Inn" that was not very nice. It's rare to see the lot very full, if that's a clue.

Galena isn't very far, but there's not an easy or direct way to get there, and although cabs are readily available at the airport, it would cost an arm and a leg from Westerville to Galena. Your best bet is to rent a car OR to find a bed and breakfast in Galena OR SUNBURY. Sunbury just might be an option for you.

Good luck!

Thanks vanw. How far is Sunbury from Galena? Do you know any B & B's in Galena or Sunbury? I have been unable to locate any in Galena on the internet. I haven't looked at Sunbury yet.

The hotels I recommended at the Polaris exit are closer to Galena than the Baymont or the Sunbury exit off I 71N. Taxi from Port Columbus to these hotels are no problem at 10:30. This area is also safer and has more restaurant and shopping options than the Sunbury exit. I would be amazed if the music teacher would not assist a visitor from NZ finding transportation.

Thanks Stumpworks73 that's the sort of information I needed. Once we have the accommodation sorted out we will talk to Tony and see if he has some advice on transportation.

My daughter's trip to Ohio has been and gone. She stayed at the Wingate Inn one of the suggestions from Stumpworks73, she said the hotel room was fine, but didn't enjoy the breakfst so much.

Had no problems with cabs as her music teacher picked her up from the airport and delivered her to the hotel and then picked her up each day and took her back. She was having Hammond B3 organ lessons from Tony Monaco and got to see him play at the Ravi room and she also got to play three songs as well so was rapt. She had a fantastic four days, and is now busy saving so she can go back for more lessons.

Thanks everyone for your advice.
