Colorado Skiing---Steamboat Springs

Hello!

I've never been to Steamboat. Are there any discount lift tickets? What are the "must dos" of a weekend in Steamboat ?

No idea about tickets and as for things to do: Steamboat is really out by itself - with a cute downtown area - but it's mainly about skiing and related winter activity.

I go to Steamboat every winter and as far as I know, Steamboat doesn't really do discount tickets. Unless you book a pacakage in advance that includes lifts/lodging then you get a percentage off.

Strawberry Park Hot Springs is one of the popular things to do. There is also a hot springs downtown, but it's more built up traditional pool like than Strawberry.

Other activities in the area include snowmobiling, dog sledding and snowshoeing.

We enjoyed skiing with Billy Kidd--he's funny, charming, and a great ambassador for Steamboat. IIRC, most days, he gathers a group at 1 PM.

Definitely take advantage of the free skiing opportunity with Billy Kidd. At he top of the gondola there is a sign if he's skiing that day. Just meet up with him and enjoy his stories and instruction. A great ambassador for the sport. We also enjoyed the horse drawn sled to a wilderness campfire, but that was several years ago as well. I've skied all over and Steamboat is my favorite. Great powder.
