October is hunting season in Colorado. Make sure you know where the hunters are before you set out on a hike in the mountains.

Mag,

I love Denver (much more so than Colorado Springs). I would say staying in Denver for a few nights is fine. You are close enough to a lot of things that if you are bored you can get out.

You are all so great. Much friendlier and eager to help than the folks down here where I live in South Florida ... in any event, I like the Boulder/Rocky Mountain National Park then on to Vail idea. Tell me more about Boulder. Does anyone know anything about Hot Sulphur Springs?

Suggestions:

1.Lookout Mountain - Buffalo Bills Grave
2.Pike's Peak - Cograilway
3.Coors Brewery - Golden, CO
4.Garden of the Gods (It's a must see!)
5.Manitou Springs is nice.
6. Air Force Academy

Try visiting some of the Colorado websites for more information.

xxx is right about hunting season! Two days ago, I went out walking in an open meadow a few hundred yards from our house and had a bullet zing by me! I'm still a little feaked out. Wear bright colors.

Mag,

Have you checked out this website? http://www.colorado.com/default.asp

It might give you some more info.If you don't plan on heading to Colorado Springs I would suggest Red Rocks instead of Garden of the Gods. They are pretty much the same thing. Red Rocks is in Morrison, very very close to Denver. As for Boulder, I don't find it that exciting. It is a nice town but also a college town and the only real draw I see is Pearl Street Mall. You could pit-stop there on your way to Estes Park/Rocky Mtn.
