Ooooh, I'm loving this thread. I fell in love with Jamaican Blue Mountain while vacationing in Negril. Couldn't get enuf of it. Although.......somehow it tasted MUCH better in Jamaica than it ever did here in the U.S. Kind of like the time my husband (then boyfriend) and I took a horse-drawn jingle-belled January sleigh ride up in northern WI. Soooo magical, huge snowflakes, very romantic. (in spite of the 10 other strangers who accompanied us). Anyway, someone started passing around a bottle of cinnamon schnapps. It was soooooo wonderful. So I promptly went out and purchased a bottle the next week.....obviously it was a "magic" bottle on that sleigh ride 'cus I've never tasted a cinn. schnapps that I've liked since!!

mooselywild..Pup had a huge lump on the back of his neck, turned out to be a cyst that broke inside then became a cluster of cysts. We had to give him antibiotics and he is once again, perfect ((&))

I get a dark roast coffee every day. French Roast day is my fav. Unless it is Italian Roast day. The Costa Rica, Guatemala, and Sumatra days are pretty good, too, actually. Coffee Mate w/no sugar.

Doutor shops in Japan have great coffee. Doutor is a coffee, sandwich, pastry restaurant chain.

Neopolitan, I do know the commercial you are referring to. It took me a while before I understood the ending. After they've traveled the world in search of the best coffee they are sitting in a place in America, Seattle I think, and having coffee and pie. One lady remarks on how good the pie is and the waiter leans in and says "best in the world". The ladies' eyes light up and the next shot is of them with their rollaboards on a cobblestone street somewhere. They are traveling now in search of the best pie.

I drink a bold usually as well, and that is funny, I got the New Orleans French Market chickory too, but was over it after a while, and haven't gotten anymore yet...but I like the coffee in Costa Rica when I think of what I have had on my travels...and I go to a Cuban place around the corner who makes a wonderful cafe con leche...I usually add a shot of skim milk and a splenda.

Best coffee cities: Manhattan and Buenos Aires.

I drink Melita Supreme dark roast in the morning.

My gym serves Maxwell House coffee in one of those huge silver urns for the 60's. I don't know what they put in it, but it REALLY gets me reved up for the day.

A friend once brought me Kona coffee from a trip to Hawaii. That was pukka coffee, man. I wish I could remember the brand.

Moosely --
We got an 11 yr old Golden Retreiver with a huge hump on his back..looks like 1 shoulder pad short for a scrimage. It is a benign lipoma [fat tumor]. They are very common on goldens, especially as they get older. He's got other small ones...each the size of a different ball - golf, tennis baseball. The kids refer to him as the sporting shop pup.
None really seem to bother him and they don't want to operate on the big one since it seems to be under muscle. So we just hump along...
Hope your guy is ok.

Love the Cafe du Monde with chicory, DH hates it. We both LOVE the Costa Rican coffee we brought back.

mooselywild~ Is Aalska dog friendly? Oh yes, and how... I always thought you can tell what kind of heart a person has by if they are dog owners.
You see lots of guys and their dogs, either in the front seat or back in the bed.. older guys are cute, because their dogs sit right next to them like girlfriends.
I like the dogs who sit in the driver's seat while the owners are inside.
Lots of retrievers here, labs, huskies.. there are little dog people too of course. We have sled dogs too you know,
I am ready to adopt one since my kids are ready for the responsibility and kind hearted. Then I can walk with him to the beach and he'll keep the moose away, while I sip my delicious COFFEE in a travel cup, lol. ((&))

the very best coffe I had was some brought back by a friend from Hawaii.

I really do not care for Starbuck's at all. It is always a last resort for me. In my Hometown we have several small roasting houses with exceptional coffee.

What about tea!!!

No offense, but I think it's interesting when someone says they don't care for Starbuck's coffee at all. Nearly every day at Starbucks I get a new one, flavor of the day or flavor of the week, choosing between a couple of choices each time -- some are strong, some are mild, some are acidic, some are smooth, some are dark, some are lighter. I guess if you don't like ANY of their coffees, there must be something wrong -- like maybe you've only ever happened to try one. How is it possible not to like ANY of them? As I mentioned above, I've most recently been ordering their Americano -- coffee made with espresso -- which had a whole different flavor than any of their other coffees.

Thanks for your concern for my golden....she's only 1, so we were worried about malignant instead of benign- but she's going to be OK!! 2 abcesses in her throat that became infected (a chicken bone mysteriously disappeared from the table a few days ago, we think that's what caused it).

Jetset- awww, that's so cute! You just described my dogs. Actually, when my mother is asked by various people if I have a boyfriend- she says yes- and then proceeds to describe my older Golden....and when it dawns on my grandma (the romantic) that mom's talking about a dog, she's veeery disappointed. LOL.

neopolitan- all right, I admit I lied- actually, I really like some of Starbucks iced drinks (the fruit tea or mint/chocolate!), just not crazy over their coffee/hot drinks.......better other places...

I agree with Mooselywild... the cold drinks are great. The hot ones do not do anything for me....

Pat2003~ The burning question is.. will you be able to go berry picking with a caffeinated person?
Hiking with me could be a grind, but if you properly filter the conversation, I'll be stirred into a perky type. A latte things can happen you know, but we'll be breve, and espresso ourselves well.. if you are under the weather that week, I'll bring some "coughee" syrup, just in case!
Small cappuccino wolverines could be around, soy what? We can always skim around that day! , J.
