Cleveland inJune

going to a conference in Cleveland in June. Any suggestions on attractions/ activities/ restaurants I shouldn't miss? The Rock Hall is on my list, but what else? There must be something to do there over my 3 or 4 days visit. thanks for the feedback.

Hit the Flats & the art museum is quite good. Maybe take in a baseball game if the Tribe is in town. If you have a free day I would suggest Kelley's Island or Put-in-Bay but they a couple of hours away.

The Warehouse District has good restaurants and nightclubs as does the Flats. The Metroparks are the best in the US. You can take a cruise on the river and in the lake on the Nautica Queen. Art Museum is world class as is the Science Museum. Cedar Point is a little more than an hour west. There are several nice beaches in the area. Check out their website:

Another vote for the Erie Islands. Put-in-Bay or Kelly's. A great way to spend a day!

When it gets closer to June, post again and that will remind me to tell you about any new restaurants that have opened up. Put Fat Cats and Fahrenheit in Tremont (funky neighborhood close to downtown with art galleries and trendy restaurants) on your list. The Warehouse District has quite a few bars and restaurants as well but the life cycle of some of those places go up and down like any big city. The museums of University Circle are world class: art, natural science, auto, etc. You could easily spend a whole day in that area and there is a university campus (Case Western Reserve University) right next to the museum area that is full of little coffee bars and delis and student life (i.e. cheap eats and entertainment). The Metro Parks are a string of park reserves all over the city and surrounding suburbs.

And the Erie Islands are great fun and Cedar Point is a mecca for roller coaster enthusiasts.

I have lived here for a few years now and am surprised that there are so many good restaurants and activities here. And you'll be here in June, which is one of the better months for weather.

Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and Science Musueum are next door to each other, but you could spend a lot of time in each of them so you may want to plan separate trips to them. The Art Musuem is in a different area and is lovely. You may want to try an Indians (baseball) game also.

Adrianne: Since you are going for a convention, will you have a car? If not, public transportation is limited to the Cleveland area and not much in suburbs that are past downtown. The ferries that go to the islands leave from Sandusky or Marblehead which are about an hour or so from downtown. It really is a nice day if you can get out to one of the islands. Downtown has a couple of shopping places, Tower City and The Galleria. There are lots of nice restaurants downtown and in the flats which you could get to easily. You can take public transportation to the Westside Market in Ohio City which is fun to browse for local ethnic foods. If you are into amusement parks, Cedar Point is definitely not to be missed, but again is in Sandusky which you will need a car to get there.

Good luck and have fun.
