The reviews have been underwhelming. Some cite the short amount of time the show was under development (1 year vs the normal 3 years). Some cite the restraints of the theatre. But, overall, the reviews have not been kind. Check out the NYTimes review or others. I've been to several Cirques but heard a lot of disappointing reviews for the last show that traveled to my city and Wintuk doesn't seem to be a hit either.

I've been swamped with work and life, so have no news to share.
If you or you companions have never seen a cirque show, it is a must imho! Just a great piece of live art. Need to start searching for my own tix! Report back if you do make it there.
Pray the lights on Broadway return this week!

Also yea,
I am not a critic, so often go into shows, movies etc with NO expectations.
Critics go to an event and then have to come up with something to say. Their job is to be critical. O f the 6 productions I have been privledged to atend, only one disappointed, and that was a small tent touring company.
So, if you haven't seen a cirque it is a good gamble. Like any gamble, are you willing to pay the price? take the chance?

The reviews by "real" people have been negative overall - at least the ones I read. Here's one from Tripadvisor below. There are many more to read and make one's own opinion about spending a lot of money on a Cirque show.
I saw Wintuk last night. It was abysmal. Worst Cirque show ever. Remarkably bad. Stupendously bad.
First, it's Cirque's "first ever family oriented" show, which means it's geared towards children rather than adults. So they throw in some puppet dogs with cartoon-y voices, a lead character played by an annoying 12 year old kid who can't act, and cartoon-y lamp posts who sing. But I expected there would still be some interesting Cirque Du Soleil style acrobatics to interest the adults. Wrong! All but 2 of the acts are standard mediocre circus (not Cirque) acts you could see at Ringling Brothers circus. There was not single "wow!" moment so common to other shows. Adults will feel like they're watching "Sesame Street On Ice".
Even the children were bored. They thought the cartoon-y dogs were cute, but there was nothing to hold their interest beyond that.
Finally, the level of performance was not up to standard Cirque quality. There were at least three obvious mistakes by performers dropping their juggling balls or missing their acrobat jump. The music was utterly forgettable, the computer generated background looked laughably bad, like something from 1986.
Skip this show.

Thanks so much. Now that is a helpful post! Sometimes providing links, rather than trusting third party heresay is so much more helpful.
So yea, I still have no tix, am still considering it, but the harder you investigate sometimes the odds turn against you. I may still gamble and give it a shot, but the thread that was thoughtfully provided by starrsville is compelling.

There are six pages of reviews and there seems to be a consensus. Posters said that there were negative remarks even on the Cirque message boards and that CdS is even offering Cirque Club discounts (an unusual event anytime, in particular on a new show).
I have seen several and have noted the differences in staging in a tent vs. a traditional theatre. I enjoyed the traveling Cirque show staged at the Fox theatre but noted a BIG difference in what is possible. It sounds as if the WaMu theatre is even more restricting with only a 20 foot ceiling height.
I don't want to violate Fodor's policies by referencing another website too much, but you can read page after page of dismal reviews on the other site, including the one below. It seems that several of the people offering reviews walked out of the show, one after 10 minutes, others at intermission. Still more wish they had (walked out).
I am on a mission of mercy. Whoever reads this, DO NOT waste your money or your time on this "show". This is two hours of my life I will never get back!!!!
I have seen 4 or 5 other CDS shows and loved each of them. This was a collosal waste of time AND money! It was so stupid, that STUPID would say, "Hey, this is stupid!"
You would be hard pressed to say there was ANYTHING entertaining about this show. The acrobatics were barely that at all, the story was amazingly stupid, the music was insulting or boring, depending on your personal tastes, and if you are thinking your kids will like it, the theater during my performance was filled with the sound of screaming 3 year olds who were scared out of the their minds !!!!
What an awful, awful night !!!

I saw Wintuk with my boys and parents. I had nothing to compare it to, since I've never seen a Cirque show before, but I read the same reviews saying that the show was so much smaller.
The theatre seating was bad. My kids could not see over the heads of those in front of them. I'm not too tall myself, so it wasn't easy for me to see, either.
I have no idea what a kid would find terrifying about the show, but my older son wasn't mesmerized. My younger son is attentionally challenged and he did like parts of the show although he told me afterwards "once is enough".

We stood in line at TKTS for 75 minutes to get tikets for this show (NOV.2008) $46 . Friends who have seen other Cirque show were disappointed. It was OK for me. I was thankful I had not paid the top price of $150. It is interesting it came back this year after last years reviews...
