Circus Circus Reno

We'll be passing through on a cross country trip, and I found a great buy one get one free rate ($45 for two nights). Does anyone have a personal experience for this hotel? We're just looking for clean and comfortable. Thanks.

Jenny,

I hope you like A LOT of kids around. That is what you get with any Circus Circus. Also, the food at the Circus Circus in Reno is historically awful.

All I can say is you get what you pay for. This is a miserable place. Look for terrible service, rude people, noise beyond belief and food in colors like fuchia and aqua. No kidding- they even screw up breakfast.

Jenny,

I have not personally stayed there (have stayed at the Las Vegas Circus Circus with our kids - wouldn't do it again with just adults), however, my stepmom used to stay there quite often with my sister who traveled for water polo matches. My stepmom is into the refined and loves it! It is a very out of character place for her to go, but she's headed there again today with my other sister for an overnite trip. It should be fine for a stop over as it is clean and comfortable, but be aware there is no pool. Also, you can easily walk across the street to the Silver Legacy and El Dorado for better food. Actually, as I recall, it's close to everything. Enjoy

I enjoyed it when I was a kid 25 years ago, but it seems like it would be old and worn these days. Your kids might enjoy it.

I stayed there with my children, then it was fine. Clean rooms, no long lines in buffet, a floor with arcades for children, free circus all day, monorail. Free circus - everywhere! If you are not travelling with kids and want to know how somebody's kids can get on your nerves you may try. For one night only - any sane adult will not stand more. Noisy children run around everywhere! Even in the casino area before security gets them out.

If Circus Circus has low rates so should other places.

Wow! Thanks for the quick replies. I knew there would be bad food and a few kids, but if the rooms are not that great either, I'll keep looking. Any other suggestions for Reno? I have found some other relatively good deals on expedia and travelworm and want to be in walking distance of most of the casinos- some options are Silver Legacy, Eldorado, a new hotel called the Golden Phoenix, and the Nugget. We are on a trip doing mostly outdoors/hiking/kayaking type things, but my husband likes to gamble and this was sort of on the way, so we decided to stop there for the day. Thanks to Laura for making me feel like I wasn't totally crazy for thinking it would be okay in the first place. If it were just for one night, I might still do it, but it would be two nights- one after a 10 hour drive, so maybe I should look for something quieter. Thanks again!

Jenny,

Now, I HAVE stayed at the Silver Legacy which is attached to the El Dorado. We had a wonderful room with a spectacular view and there were restaurants for every taste. They have great deals at times, check their website.

if it's just for a night... the circus circus is fine. it's great cause it's attached to the two other biggies in downtown... the silver legacy and the el dorado. if all you are going to do is sleep, then i say take the deal. there is a lot going on in all three casinos and they are all connected so you don't even have to walk outside that you can easily leave the noisy kids of other travelers behind as you look at the other two hotels.

Best gambling for me is at Fitzgeralds. And they have nice, inexpensive rooms, centrally located downtown.

Lindy, I thought so too. Till I got 2 rooms - one for my son with the same last name. There was some mix-up with who's staying in which room - so to figure it out the check-in desk called me. Waking me up at 1 am. It was 3 years ago - still waiting for a reply to my letter!

I stayed at Circus Circus in Reno a couple of times about 10 yrs. ago. BAck then the rooms were kind of dirty and the breakfast buffet was awful. I will never forget that meal. I should have known form the price $2.35 a person. I saw a lot of prople at the buffet line, so I figured that it should be okay. Well they made the pancakes ahead of time, and they were like rubber. The sausage was gray and you had to slice through the fat in order to get to the meat at the bottom of the pan. The biscuits were so hard that they could be considered a deadly weapon. The best thing there were the stewed prunes.

In defense of Circu Circus, they did do extensive remodeling, and from what I have heard the rooms are actually decent. I am not sure about the food. If you do decide to stay at Circus Circus, it is connected to the Silver Leagcy and the Eldorado. Both have good buffets and restaurants. I would recommend eating there instead of Circus Circus.
