Cindy's Backstreet Kitchen - Napa Valley
Hi,
Jim on ilovenapa.com seems pretty taken with this restaurant. She also owns Mustards. I was wondering what people here thought of it. I was looking for a slightly less expensive more casual restaurant , but still great food. Will be staying in Yountville.

This is on the top of my list for Yountville. I would stay with Cindy's. We have her cookbook and love it.
We also enjoy Bistro Jeanty for lunch. Very quaint, excellent food. I really liked the way the skate was prepared here. ***kim***

Well, it is romantic, the dining room is very cozy and there is a fireplace, but I do agree Domaine Chandon is VERY nice!
We have dined at both places, I would call DC elegant and BJ more casual, but that is what you're looking for, right?
If you're looking for casual, less expensive, you might want to consider Tra Vigne located in St. Helena.
From what I remember, Bistro Jeanty is pretty pricey, but I haven't been there in a few months. Report back, whatever you decide!
If you do choose Bistro Jeanty, the tomato soup is amazing there. ***kim***

You know, I stumbled upon Cindy's Kitchen the very week it opened and had a wonderful brunch on their little deck. Great place. What got me to that back street was Terra - where I was planning an anniversary dinner of my own (since I, too, had struck out at the French Laundry). Terra is an amazing little restaurant with wonderful food, a spare but elegant (and romantic) decor and excellent service. And since it is next door to Cindy's, you won't have to worry about getting lost.

Thanks! will let you know how we like both places. Also want to check out the Bounty Hunter wine bar on Friday, but now I have been reading about all of the "tasting" rooms/bars etc. that have cropped up in Napa since we were there about 4-5 years ago.

We've had good meals at Hurley's in Y'ville. Pretty causal, too.
Gordon's Cafe and Wine bar as well as Napa Valley Grille are also reasonable.
Cindy's is still on our to do list. Maybe R5 will treat? :-?
