Cincy to Niagra to Maine - Help!
Mid-June 2 wk vacation starting in Cincinnati to Niagra Falls to Maine with 2 boys 11 and 14. Looking for interesting stops along the way and where to go/stay/ eat in Maine. Definitely going to Acadia Natl Park and going whale watching. Heard about a really neat Museum in (Burlington) Vermont????? Any suggestions or tidbits of info are greatly appreciated. I know I need to make some reservations asap. Thanks!

For a stop along the way, Cleveland (about 4 hours from Cinci) would be fun for a visit to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. The Great Lakes Science Center is right next door, both on Lake Erie. From there Niagara Falls (via I 90) is about 3-4 hours, depending on traffic, time of day ect.

Are you driving through NY or Canada to get to Maine? As bardo1 points out, it may be nice to drive there one way and back the other.
Toronto has a great Science Museum, the CN Tower, Hockey Hall of Fame etc. There is also Paramount Canada's Wonderland (a huge amusement park) and African Lion Safari.
In Niagara Falls, be sure to ride the Whirlpool Jet Boat - your boys will love it. It departs from Lewiston, NY or Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ont and takes you through the whirlpool rapids. You could also drive into Buffalo for real Buffalo wings at the Anchor Bar.

I'm guessing that you're talking about the Shelburne Museum. It's on Rt. 7 south of Burlington, Vermont.
It's awesome. The adults and kids will definitely enjoy it.

If travel thru Canada is an option take birth certificates, picture id and shot records. You may not need these but then again you may. In Vermont stop at Ben and Jerry's and the Cider Mill, you get to make your own cider. CN tower is very cool in Toronto. if you are in Bar Harbor Maine at low tide walk out (or drive) onto the bar for a late afternoon picnic. If you can stand the smell. take a water bottle and go to the bathroom before going to the top of Cadillac Mt in Acadia Ntl Park.

Also in Toronto you can maybe catch a Blue Jays game -- ticket prices are great!
Portland ME is a great town to walk around in, get take-away chowda, and ferry boats to the islands. I think they have a minor league baseball team ...
If you go through the NY route one way (I like the Canada idea), you can try the waterpark/amusement park in the Lake George area, and visit the Howe Caverns. Cooperstown and the baseball hall of fame may not be too far out of your way...
