Cincinnati and Dayton-- nighttime?

Is there anything fun to do in the evenings during a business trip?? Will be there the 3rd week in October. Will be staying next to CVG and would like to up to Cincinnati and maybe Dayton for old time sake! (I lived in Dayton about 25 years ago and can't recall ever having very much fun there, LOL. ) Are there any lively spots that are safe for nighttime dining and walking?

What about driving south of CVG in the mid-afternoon, would I be be able to see any rolling bluegrass and horse farms?

Is there anything intersting in Covington? (doubtful...)

THANKS

The first place to check out (on the Ohiio river in Newport) is Newport on the Levy. http://www.newportonthelevy.com/
Lots of restaurants, comedy clubs, etc. (and safe)

Not sure if I would go all the way up to Dayton.

Going south towards Lexington you will see rolling hills and horse farms. Visit Kentucky Horse Park. http://www.kyhorsepark.com/

The leaves are turning colors now, so hopefully it should be beautiful around here by the time you come.

Thanks Maj! I completely forgot about fall colors!

The reason I want to go to Dayton (actually Oakwood) is because all my kids were born there! I
will be with my 25 year old daughter and wanted to show her the first house she ever lived in (if I can find it!)

Another place that isn't far from CVG is Crestview Town Center. http://www.shopcrestviewhillstowncenter.com/
It is fairly new with shopping and restaurants of all kinds. Some, like the Pub and Carrabas have bars with them also. It is in a very nice area if you want someplace to eat, etc.

Wish I could help you with Dayton -- hopefully someone else will chime in. My son lives there and I know the downtown area doesn't have too much going on -- at least it didn't when I was there last year.

vivi, make the drive to Dayton. It's grown a lot in 25 years!!! The Oregon District has some nice restaurants and bars - depends on what you are looking for and it is safe. Of course, you can't go wrong with dinner at the Oakwood Club. Check out the entertainment sections at www.daytondailynews.com

"I lived in Dayton about 25 years ago and can't recall ever having very much fun there".

Sums up my 4.5 years there pretty well.

In addition to the Oakwood Club, there's the Pine Club for steaks or Marion's for pizza.
